WC are in a strong trading position that goes hand-in-hand with a good list.
Basically, WC will want to trade for someone who meets a specific need within their list, and will want someone likely to play 15-20 games next year.
Failing that, we'll just offload fringe players for picks or try to secure upgrades on those we currently hold.
At the moment, there aren't too many holes in WC's list. A top-drawer leading FF would be handy, as would a versatile mid-sized defender. We have Daniel Chick, and Beau Waters will be in the mix next year, but another player in that mould would allow those guys to rotate through the forward line as well.
We have some good young talent outside our best 22 that continue to develop.
I'm not anti-Perrie, but as key forwards go, he's just not quite in that top tier that WC would really be looking to target. Given that Adelaide's desire to be adequately compensated for him, I doubt that WC's need for Perrie is great enough to part with something/someone that would satisfy Adelaide.
I just can't see the two teams agreeing on that score.
Sounds to me like we have similar problems. We've been chasing that elusive leading forward superstar for a decade. I'll give you a little tip, you wont get one in a trade, unless you pay well above the odds. No one is ever going to be looking to trade the players you say you want, so it looks like you wont play much of a role in the trade week. Trading is always about the lesser lights, not the superstars, with the rare exception of course (usually the troubled ones like Fevola).
