I heard some stat earlier during the year showing how we were far more effective with him on the ground. Something like for example, we had kicked 40 goals with him on the ground, with him off it was like 6 or something.

It was something like that anyways. But yeah, I don't think we can get far on the backs of a ruck combo consisting of Bryan and Richards, I think Fraser will play a big part in how far we go

That's probably also a reflection of the low TOG for Richards/Bryan, but no doubting they're rubbish.

Yeah I agree.

I can't really remember what the stat was, I think it included that goals against us shot up as well without him on the ground... Anyways it was pretty shocking to me at the time though, and point still stands he is going to be one of the most important players for us come finals time.

Assuming we do make it through a few stages, look at some of the guys he's potentially going toe to toe with, with only Richards as support:

Everitt/Jolly
Lade/Brogan
Cox/Seaby
Ottens/King?

And not to forget the likes of McIntosh, Hudson (towelled us last week) and Campbell

I think its Bucks, the last two games he played were great with quality possessions, but by no means exceptional... when he's unleashed on sydney with the finals pressure that he's so used to... I have a feeling he'll rally the team home...

It would be interesting to see how clarke holds in a final game... his got potential

Funnily enough IMO our most important player is not in the poll.

I reckon Rusling is vital to us. He gives us a different (better) avenue to goal. Cloke can work the wings. Rocca can play from 40-60m out. Rus can be left in the goal square and told to lead to boundaries with his pace. i reckon boltons the only one who can match him and sydney wouldnt want him out of the play, also frees cloke and pebs up. Think about it!

I just don't think he is capable of that anymore. I'm a big Rocca fan, but theres no chance of him kicking more then 15 goals in this finals series and thats exactly what we need from him if we are to get deep into it.

I believe it is one of Buckley or Thomas to play outstandingly in each of the next 4 games for us to have a chance.

If Buckley can move forward and kick 2-3 goals then it means we've that many goals ahead + having Rocca, Cloke and Rusling given one less quality backman on them. Buckley is a major key. Also, if Thomas can stand up and be a bit more consistent, his pressure will wear any opposition backline right down to an absolute rabble and allow him to tear sides apart ala Didak last year with the assists and goals.

More up the ground, I'd say a refreshed Fraser can be the massive difference.

Yeah, I'm a tad perplexed that Pendles and Clement aren't even on the list.

Clement, Rocca, Pendlebury, Fraser, H.Shaw and Rusling.

For some reason James Clement is not an option, and I would choose him. I feel that Sean Rusling and Scott Pendlebury are also very important, but they're not on the list either!

Anthony Rocca is the most important player on that list, so I have voted for him ahead of Josh Fraser and Heath Shaw, although the list is incomplete.

I know Buckley is just coming back and not making much impact so far in the 2 games, but with our current developing team I don't see us going very far without Buckley firing up. If he hits form we might just really click like in 90 and have some chance of going all the way - he is the icing on the cake and without it, not much of a party.

the other big factor is the on-field generalship he has shown especially last week, which should make a huge diff, especially to the forward line effectiveness which has tended to be clogged and predictable all year. Also the whole team lifts with him in there - if you were a young player playing in the same team as a legend like that, you'd *have* to play well right? to avoid embarrassment.

These are the two positions that we will struggle to cover the most if they are injured.

We really need Josh back in some form so that even if we're not going to win the hit-outs the ruck battle all totalled comes up even or in our favour.

And we need Anthony Rocca firing, because he's the only one of our forwards capable of kicking 5 goals on any given day.

Ruck has been our weakness for many years. If we can get first hands on the ball, it will be a massive advantage for us.
