Which player has been our most improved player in 2025?

Ben Miller - 23 games in 2025 following 21 in 2024. Established himself as our number 1 KPD but statistically he was slightly down on 2024, with a higher % of 1v1 losses, but that happens with an increase in responsibility.

Sam Banks - has slowly built up over the last couple of seasons with 22 games this year following 15 in 2024. He has had an increase across the board statistically and became our number 1 option coming off HB with his run and carry proving to be quite dangerous at times. Wouldn't be a shock to see him in the top 5 in the B&F this year such has been his consistency across 2025.

Tylar Young - came back into the side in the 2nd half of the year after recovering from his ACL. In those 7 games he showed significant improvement in his game, so much so that his player rating climbed from 4.82 in 2024 to 10.54 this year, making him the 4th highest rated Tiger with more than 5 games. Alongside Miller some Tigers fans believe that they could be our long term KPD option, but Yze still seems keen on having Balta down back.

Tyler Sonsie - played 16 games in 2025 after 14 in 2024 and after a slow start he gradually found his place as a high half forward that becomes an extra midfielder once the ball is in play and seems to have adopted the KMac philosophy of playing a role, the difference being that Sonsie is able to get more possessions and is a bit more impactful with them. Still has his detractors but should be on the list in 2026.

Seth Campbell - was suggested during the North game that he is the most improved Tiger based on player ratings and he went on to be our leading goal kicker for the year with 28 for the season. Towards the end of the season he started to get some exposure in the midfield and showed he could be a point of difference with his explosiveness away from the stoppage and agility in and around traffic. In 2 seasons has played 43 of 46 games.

Tom Brown - followed up 18 games in 2024 by playing every game in 2025 as he established himself as a intercepting/rebounding defender who just goes about his job with a minimum of fuss and has become an integral part of our back line as we head into 2026.

Has to be Miller, built his season on a very solid 2024 where circumstances (injuries) overwhelmed him and all of our defenders TBH. He's developed the confidence to take on risky kicks which has helped enormously in our transitional plays.

Banks for me. Stepped up from a player on the fringes to become our best HB with his run and carry a real feature when we've been able to play more attacking footy. As we get better at being able to control momentum I believe he will thrive in one of the most important roles teams have in terms of launching counter attacks from D50.

1st - BENNY MILLER .. got my vote showed confidence and leadership
2nd - YOUNG .. deserves a shout out, would have loved him in the team for the full season but he took some big steps forward this season.
3rd - BANKS .. played some ripper games and is still progressing in his career.

Campbell comfortably.

He has shot up into the top 20 rated general forwards at number 17. But of the 1-4 yer cohort(22yo and younger) he is rated 5th, behind only Darcy jones, Curtis, Rachele and Watson, and he isn't a long way behind any of them. So he is in some fine company there.

A forward line with 22-24yo versions of Campbell, Lalor, Hotton, Armstrong, Faull, Sims, Alger is going to be something to look forward to. Not to forget the likes of Mansell, Rioli providing pressure.

I would like to say Seth Campbell is our most improved player...

But after last year he was already showing glimpses of what he'd be, I didn't think Sam Banks had this in him the way he has played.

Ben Miller was already much improved last season although I do think he has gone to another level, I always felt he had it in him.

A bit of an an honourable mention to (some are going to hate this and fair enough), MRJ.

Yes he is still inconsistent, and yes his kicking and general possession are not good enough, but there he took the game on that were exciting. His ability to sprint away from a contest is something we don't have much of. We highlight his tackling, but if he could get general game up and going, which pretty much comes down to fitness, then he could continue to grow.

He finally looks like an AFL player, let's hope he comes back in the same shape after the break, better, because he could go up another gear easily.

Cmon mate

The thread is 'most improved'. Not honourable mention for someone who played 3 decent games for the year.
