to the geelong supporters here on this thread and have posted in agreement to this tosspot who the mods continue to let them get away with their trolling, youre the cockiest bunch ive ever seen on this forum. have nothing constructive to say piss off. i cant wait to see wce destroy your side next year. and it is going to happen as youll never have a season like this again.

yea i agree, the mods are pathetic :D

now watch me get banned , you have to be a troll to not get banned

as for the overrated thing, WCE are not overrated even though i love making fun of them

I would have to say Geelong. While they are an awesome side they were extremely lucky this year (as most premiership teams need to be) in that they won the premiership in a year where Sydney and Adelaide started a decline, the reigning premiers were destroyed by injury and the rest of the teams in the 8 were in the early stages of a rebuilding phase. All this while having an extremely good run with injury.

They're a fantastic side no doubt but not nearly as good as the media pumped them up to be.

We had a bad year in 2006.

We were 4th and 5th in 04 and 05. We were building a side. We were always going to peak about 2007.

We have 1 Flag, and a NAB flag. West Coast have 1 flag. We have our windown FIRMLY open for 2-3 years. West coast have lost Judd and Cousins looks fragile.

I am confident that we will win another flag in our period.

For me it has to be west coast, everyone especially their supporters seems to think that wce are some some sort of super team I mean for FFS you won one premiership using boring defensive slow down football in an even year and you left the finals in straight sets but wait for the excuses mainly we were injured. Even now after geelong have won the premiership by 119 pts wce supporters still claim there team is better than geelongs and would beat us despite how we beat them by 39 pts and finished 3 games higher but wait theres an excuse for that too.

WCE supporters grow up your team isnt even close to how good you think they are.

The 05/06 were the softest most boring Premierships in the History of the AFL.

:):thumbsu:

Geelong >>>>>>>>>> West Coke. :D

You guys are piss poor ....
You couldnt even touch Sydney or West Coast when you had the chance in 05/06 ( none of us could) so don't rag on their premierships.....

Have some dignity in victory

Embley is so overatted.

I said to myself before the GF when he won the Norm Smith is that all he had to do was get 25+ possessions and they'd give it to him.

You said this to yourself before the Grand Final and after he'd won the Norm Smith?

I seem to remember those two events happenening at different times.

Hawthorn are the most overrated side in my opinion. How they managed to get 5th on the ladder is a real mystery.

Over rated would imply that they haven't performed as well as expected.
Over achiever is more accurate. We were predicted by most "experts" to finish bottom 4. St Kilda have probably been the most over rated of the past few years.

Ah rubbish... We were easily the best side from ROUND 5 onwards... Lucky with injuries yes, but no other club has dominated a season to the extent of the Cats in '07. You can't put one of the most dominant seasons in AFL history down to luck one year after you say the competition was so much stronger... Garbage... We belted everyone...

I was really happy to see Geelong win the Premiership this year but ever since then I'm losing more and more respect for them after reading what their fans post up on BF. Is this thread just more of the same 'blowing your own horn' bullsh*t? Yes, you won the GF in a very one sided affair now run along and enjoy your moment. Just remember, Collingwood nearly didn't let you get into the GF to start with. Let's just see how you follow it up next year because I'm sure there'll be a lot of teams nipping at your heels!

And in answer to your initial question, Fremantle were rated as premiership favourites at the start of the year so I would have to say they were overated this year because of where they finished up.

I am loving this thread because all the West Coast supporters are getting upset that Geelong won the GF this year and not them because they had injuries. Remember last year when a thread couldn't be started before some West Coast supporter said something like: "I don't care because we won the Grand Final..." and then they post a pic of the cup or the side holding the cup up.
Personally I reckon Geelong got lucky - no injuries and their players played in career best form in a year that was wide open to all but the last 3 sides at the half way mark of the season.

I don't recall saying Geelongs success was down to luck. I said that they were pumped up as being somewhat better than they actually are due to the fact they had a bit of luck.

Sydney & Adelaide are no longer rated by anyone. The bottom 8 are can't really be considered over-rated. Hawks, Port, Collingwood are all rebuilding. North were exposed for what they are in the finals (A good side that somewhat over-acheived). That leaves Geelong and West Coast and out of the 2 I would say Geelong are the more over-rated by the media and fans at the moment.

Correct :thumbsu:

Interesting to see how they go in 2008 with the likes of St Kilda, West Coast, Collingwood, Brisbane, Port and Freo likely to improve in various areas to challenge them :)

One things for sure, they won't have the same perfect run with injuries like they did this year.

I'm tipping next year to be a lot stronger than this year, not that this would be hard

I find that Sydney is way overrated by West Coast Supporters.

All thru the season, no matter how the Swans were travelling they had no doubt that Sydney would be up there challenging for the flag again.

When we were going along ok the comment by WC supporters was often...but wait until you play Sydney. Win the mid year encounter and then it was, but wait til you play them at the end of the year when they hit their straps. Win that, then it was wait til you play them in a finals. Win that then its, oh well they'll be back next year. They just had a bad game.

I understand they have a huge respect for Sydney but its way over the top. Many sides don't fear Sydney like they do.

Then after the GF, some WCE fans felt the 2007 final was boring and were saying WC vs Syd for 2008 GF. Nobody wants to see that. The love affair must end.

Extremely lucky???

You have no clue... What else could Geelong possibly of done not to be considered overrated in '07 then? They dominated every part of the season, win the GF by 20 goals... C'mon, give me something credible. Why so overrated? I'm sensing a soare loser... :o

See my last post for your answer. I couldn't really find a reason why one of the other sides would be considered over-rated more than Geelong. It's not like I think they are hugely over-rated, probably just a little over hyped by the media. Let's not forget you barely scraped into the GF this year.

Agree.

Fully fit Eagles (even without Judd) would smash a fully fit Geelong every week.

St Kilda of 2004-2006 were over-rated.

what about the week of round 7 2007?

WC were missing...
cousins
cox
embley
fletcher

Geelong were missing...
chapman
harley
rooke
j.hunt
s.king

would the difference make up the 39 points Geelong beat WC by, and then on top of that, smash them? Then take out Judd too.

I'm sorry, where did I mention that we weren't in the GF because of injuries etc etc. We weren't good enough this year, it's as simple as that! Geelong were the best team all year and they deserved to win!

Sydney beat Geelong in the last seconds before the Prelim '05.. talking about scraping wins?? Sydney didn't change their lineup for the last 7-8 games of the season.. no injuries?? I guess they weren't overrated.. no of course not.

The footy public should be kissing our back sides for bringing the game of AFL back to a watchable event. Sydney near made the AFL bring in rules to stop the rubbish your lot puts out there week to week. Luck is purposely restricting the other team as your number 1 objective, then hoping that you win by low margins... Good riddance to the swans garbage style of play... Geelong are the trend setters now.

Assuming everyone is full fit
Judd>>>>Ablett
Kerr = Bartel
Cousins>>>Corey
Embley>>>Enright
Stenglien=Ling
Glass>/= Scarlett
Priddis<<<Chapy

Geelong, with the slightly better forward line, i still like the west coke eagles more, and i dig the party vibe over in the west!!!:)

Judd - Gone!!
Cousins > Corey
Kerr tagged out by Ling
Embley = Enright
Bartel > ???
Mooney >>> Lynch
Scarlett = Glass
Enright >> ??
Milburn >> Hunter
Selwood J >> Selwood
Cox >> Ottens
Steve Johnson >> ???

I agree to an extent, although Geelong are more even than West Coast. Without Judd and Kerr you lack good ball winners badly. Too many recievers(Embley,Braun,Cousins,Rosa,Priddis). Your record without Judd is not good at all, something of concern. Kerr will get mauled by taggers every week now... he will get ALL the attention because you struggle for other contested winners. Priddis looks good but needs to get in there and win it himself.

Geez I'm not sure were to start here

Here we go...

Myth number 1: "Kerr struggles with taggers"
Yes it's true he struggled for the first few games when he became the number one midfielder after Judd went down. However in his last 8 games, 6 games he had over 30 'Kerr' possession [none of this kick to kick crap] with the other two games 25 and 27 possessions respectively - now if that's struggling with a tag, I want to see the stats for someone dominating a tagger

Myth number 2: "Cousins is a reciever"
To a degree yes - In recent years with the development of Judd and Kerr he was moved to a more outide role as he is our classiest and best finisher. But you just have to look at some of his games this year - In his 38 possession come back game he led the game in CONTESTED possessions with 19 - If he has to he is one of the best clearance players in the league - watch the St Kilda game in the second half, Smashed St Kilda in the guts

Myth Number 3: "Priddis need to win more ball himself"
Was the this a slight troll thrown into your post? Or are you that uninformed about West Coast? He led West Coast in tackles and was third in the league, was a leading clearance player and up there in contested possessions

There's other things wrong with that post, but they're the main ones

Geelong, 1 premiership and all of the sudden their "the greatest side ever", seriously, could you fit Port Adelaide into any other Grand Final in the last 10 years? even 20 years?

I mean, well done for winning the premiership and all Geelong, but know your limits.
