This round was the 500th game of the one and only Tarkyn_24. We celebrated the occasion with a comfortable loss, and now sit second last on the ladder. :love:

We came up against the Warriors. The match thread was a little quieter than some we've seen in the past, which was actually very pleasant - particularly given the opposition included the likes of Tonga Bob, TheInjuryFactory, our dear friend pantskyle (also celebrating a milestone - game 309), NaturalDisaster, and A Swallow.

But all attention was on Tarkyn_24 - and WOW, Tarks delivered! In a round where okeydoke7 kicked 10 goals at full forward, Tarks also went bang, kicking the first goal of the game in the first few minutes before being benched for Headless. An astute coaching move, some would say.

Things didn't go so well after that, however. It was a tight game for the most part - we even led by nine points at the final change - but the Warriors were much too strong in the final term. A ten-goal drubbing saw us go down by 35 points.

For the Demons, commendable sim performers included:
  • jmoo wan (20 disposals, 9 marks, 2 tackles)
  • cats2rise (23 disposals)
  • sante (8 goals - not quite enough to get us across the line)
  • Hate (16 hitouts, 24 disposals, 5 tackles, 2 goals)
  • Proper Gander (26 disposals, 2 tackles)

And prolific match thread posters included Headless, manangatang, sausageroll, Callums_Guns, cooney, and Bluelegs.

In Round 10, we (11th) came up against the in-much-better-form-than-us Dragons (5th), in a game we really needed to win to keep our slight finals aspirations alive.

The thread had a strong start before trailing off a little, but we still enjoyed opposition contributions from the likes of serial_thrilla, T2B_, Strigoi, Braklet, and Pie 4 Life (who was very vocal in celebrating #Tarks501).

sante got us off to a great start, with a goal in the first 47 seconds. By quarter time, we'd established an 11 point lead. The game was extremely topsy-turvy (and high-scoring) thereafter, with many lead changes. At half time, we were down by six points, before taking the lead (three points) again at the final change, and ultimately winning by 15 points.

On the field, stand-out performers included:

  • moginie (24 disposal, 9 marks, 3 tackles, 2 goals)

In Round 11, Callums_Guns informed us this would be a farewell game of sorts - for now. CG has been a wonderful, wonderful member of this club. In my entire time in the league, I can't think of a poster who has been more consistently engaging, inclusive, or selfless. Thanks for everything, CG - we're all hoping to see you back at the Demons as soon as possible. Preferably Round 12, Season 33.

We travelled in Round 11 to face the Las Vegas Bears at The Stadium in the Sky. It was one of the top six most active match threads of the round - #grandfinalrematch (339 pages, 8,451 posts at time of writing) just pipped us. Opposition friends such as JoshWoodenSpoon, Suns Supreme, I Dont Care, Cap, and Millky95 were most active for the opposition.

It was a high-scoring affair, with a cumulative total of 259 points. Unfortunately we were on the wrong end of it in the end, going down by a comfortable (for them) 45 points. We got out of the blocks well and led by 12 points at quarter time, but were behind at every other siren; we didn't recover after conceding ten (10) goals in the second quarter.

In Round 11, Callums_Guns informed us this would be a farewell game of sorts - for now. CG has been a wonderful, wonderful member of this club. In my entire time in the league, I can't think of a poster who has been more consistently engaging, inclusive, or selfless. Thanks for everything, CG - we're all hoping to see you back at the Demons as soon as possible. Preferably Round 12, Season 33.

We travelled in Round 11 to face the Las Vegas Bears at The Stadium in the Sky. It was one of the top six most active match threads of the round - #grandfinalrematch (339 pages, 8,451 posts at time of writing) just pipped us. Opposition friends such as JoshWoodenSpoon, Suns Supreme, I Dont Care, Cap, and Millky95 were most active for the opposition.

It was a high-scoring affair, with a cumulative total of 259 points. Unfortunately we were on the wrong end of it in the end, going down by a comfortable (for them) 45 points. We got out of the blocks well and led by 12 points at quarter time, but were behind at every other siren; we didn't recover after conceding ten (10) goals in the second quarter.

On our side of the fence, some of the better sim performers included:
  • Yakker (15 disposals, 4 marks, 1 tackle, 2 goals)
  • haydo (30 disposals, 5 marks, 1 tackle, 2 goals)
  • moginie (29 disposals, 12 marks, 1 tackle, 1 goal)
  • Hate (9 hitouts, 18 disposals, 2 tackles, 1 goal)
  • sausageroll (16 disposals, 6 marks, 1 tackle)
  • Proper Gander (28 disposals, 2 tackles, 1 goal)
  • sante (4 goals, 3 behinds)

Games against the Wonders usually produce my favourite match threads, and this was no exception. Round 12 saw a lively match thread with opposition contributors including but not limited to damicky, @dogs106, Brenton Davy, Grand Uncle Horace, and Mozzie19. It's always enjoyable to post alongside our dear friend and ex-Demon (and Demon at heart) ClarkeM, and SSwans2011 and NinjaSwan (future Demons) are great value.

This game was all about sante, who was dominant from start to finish, and who must now be close to leading the Fred. In a high-scoring game, sante booted nine goals to lead us to a 48-point victory.

The game was quite close at quarter time (Demons by four points) and half time (Wonders by six points), but we kicked away in the second half, and it never really looked in doubt. Sim stand-outs included:
