Demons Posting - Round 16 v Dragons

The Dragons bragged about being the most engaging club in the SFA without even realising that the Demons are the team they find most engaging. That's right, their threads with the Demons were their two biggest threads of the season. They clearly love us.

From the Demons point of view, this week was our second biggest match thread of the year, behind the Round 4 match against the Wonders. Five Demons reached triple figures, one more than our Round 5 match against the Dragons, but five less than we had against the Wonders.
We had 21 posters again leaving us with an average of 21.36 posters per week over the season.

Gralin, Wosh and Tarkyn_24 all posted back-to-back hundreds and Headless ended his steady increase in posting with a HUGE jump in activity.
sante finished with his second 50+ week in a row and Scythe94 , moginie, PMBangers and manangatang provided plenty of quality as always. Yakker, Hate, cooney and DERO were also up and about.

If you want to see how to throw away a game in one quarter, just randomly select any game we've lost this season and there's a fair chance you'll get what you're loking for. This week was just another example. After leading for most of the day, we just switched off completely for the last quarter, gifting the Dragons a spot in the finals.
We knew the Roys were pretty much gone by the 3 quarter time break so decided to save ourselves for the finals, where we'll go in with more energy in reserve than the other teams. Yeah, that's right. Demons finals domination coming up.

My habit of playing well in Demons losses continued, finishing with my first ton of the season. cats2rise played well after being moved onto the ball, finishing with his highest score of the season, as did DemonJim who had a huge game on his back flank, finishing with 12 marks. Key defenders Headless and Quivorir both beat their opponents in the air as well.

Up forward, Scythe94 provided an avenue to goal on his flank and PMBangers, DERO and cooney all chipped in for goals as usual. Wosh fell 19 goals short of kicking 19 goals. It's only the second time she's been held scoreless this season; both against the Dragons.

manangatang and sante decided saving energy for one quarter wasn't enough for them and decided to just take the week off. Actually, sante started the game, got possession of the ball and though "f*** this. I can't be botherd today. I'm out of here...

Mount Buller Demons vs Sin City Swamprats H2H​

This week marks the first time the two clubs will have met in a Semi Final. Of the stop start history of this rivalry the two clubs have played a total of 47 times with a 6 game lead to the Rats 26-20 with one draw. In Finals the ledger is 4-2 in favor of the Demons but the lone Grand Final matchup went the way of the Swampies

4 of the 6 finals appearances have been close encounters decided by less than 10 points, 2 of the games being won by a single point

The two clubs have not met in finals since the Season 29 Grand Final match, the Demons will be looking for some measure of revenge for that 1 point loss.

7 Swampies from that match have been named for this Sunday while the Demons have 11 players from that game in the squad this week including the Deestroy medalist from that game DemonJim whose dominant performance was not quite enough to lift his team to Victory.

Season Stats
​

Looking at the season stats for both teams the Swamprats have been slightly lower scoring but stingier in defence as well. The Demons have played a higher possession game and put more pressure on their opponents with higher tackle numbers. The Swamprats give away more frees than they receive showing perhaps a willingness to slop the opposition by any means necessary.

The two teams met back in Round 01 of the season, a game the Demons won by 60 points before going on to lose 4 in a row. The Swamprats also ended Round 05 1-4 and both teams looked likely to miss finals.

The two teams went on to win more games than they lost for the rest of the season though, post Round 5 the Swamprats boasted a 7-2 record including 5 in a row from rounds 06-11 to secure a top 4 finish and the double chance. The Demons, meanwhile were a little more stop start with a record of 5-1-3 and no more than two wins in a row to secure the 8th and final spot in the post season.

Last week the Swampies has a 34 point loss to the Gumbies while the Demons had 36 point win against the Wazzas.

Past form means nothing this week and neither team has the Full Forward they started their season with lining up there this week.

Indeed the Demons leading goal scorer this season Wosh will be lining up at full back on philreich while the all time league leading goal scorer Tarkyn_24 will be looking to back up a 4 goal Elimination Final performance with an even better game against Rodney "The Wall" Dangerfield

The leagues second greatest goal scorer okeydoke7 will be lining up at CHB this week again for some reason.

Swamprats

1. Kennedy Parker will the Swamprats milestone man get them first use in the ruck this week? Last week the qooty player of many names had 11 hit outs, 17 disposals and a goal in the loss​
2. edgie the back pocket now half forward flanker exploded last week for 5 goals and has been named forward again this week, will he back up last weeks excellent performance?​
3. philreich the Swamprats leading goal scorer had an absolute mare last week barely troubling the stats keepers on their way to 4 disposals and no score, will he turn it around this week against the demons or will he again fail to fire in a big match​

Demons

1. DERO continued his excellent season in the forward pocket adding another 5 goals to his tally and proving again to be one of the best small forwards in the competition
2. moginie moved from the half forward flank to rover and had a day out, 26 disposals, 10 tackles and 115 DT points, all season best numbers and he still hit the scoreboard with a handy goal
3. Gralin playing in his first final didn't show the nerves you'd expect from a rookie, leading all comers with 37 disposals and not shying away from the defensive work either with 5 tackles, will this week show that he is built for finals qooty?
