Bet he gets a suspended sustence. No jail time leaving the eagles with the dilemma of retaining a convicted criminal on their list whilst wanting to portray themselves as a civic minded organisation who's players are portrayed as outstanding role models

what's more civic minded than having the club's (now) strong and positive culture help a troubled kid turn his life around?

that said, any more screw ups and he'll be out on his arse

But can AFL ban Williams? Will they attempt to twist Collingwood's arm to make it an in-house sanction? Footy dept strongly behind Williams.

Wonder if the AFL will step in with Newman? I mean they are both up for GBH but i take it the problem with Williams over Newman is , is that Williams is more a chance to be in their best 22 come round 1 then Newman is ( Also a rookie).

Newman will be sentenced before round 1 though. But it is certainly an interesting comparision.

Must be a very difficult decision for the afl - they prefer things like,this to happen in different times so the disparity in response to the two clubs isnt so easily higlighted.

I feel sorry for them. Perhaps they should use the core and the non core - collingwood are a core club and west coast a non core club

Finally... Something that bodes well for Muzza!
 
I think what genuinely bodes poorly for Murray is that the judge in Williams case said an immediate jail term was normal for a decision of this type...

Which is obviously the same offence that Murray was guilty of...

One thing you learn quickly in law is that judge's are not consistent.
