AFL Club
St Kilda
Saints fan here, watch alot of highlights of the upcoming draftees etc and have a good knowledge of every AFL clubs needs.

1. Brisbane - Luke Davies Uniacke
2. Fremantle- Cam Rayner
3. Carlton- Adam Cerra
4. North Melbourne - Jaiden Stephenson
5. Fremantle- Paddy Dow
6. Collingwood- Jarrod Brander
7. St.Kilda- Aidan Bonar
8. St.Kilda- Andrew Brayshaw
9. Western Bulldogs- Nick Coffield
10. Carlton- Darcy Fogarty
11. GWS- Jack Higgins
12. Adelaide- Charlie Constable
13. West Coast- Aaron Naughton
14. Sydney- Lochie O'Brien
15. Brisbane - Sam Hayes
16. Western Bulldogs- Hunter Clark
17. Richmond- Oscar Allen
18. Brisbane- Connor Ballanden (Academy)
19. Gold Coast- Jack Petruccelle
20. Richmond- Patrick Naish (F/S)

All depends of what Freo and Collingwood do at Picks 5&6. Either could easily pick up Naughton and Brander would could completely change my thoughts. At this stage this is what I have gone with.

Please comment your thoughts happy to hear it. Went for clubs needs or best available.

Any other names you think that are in contention for Top 20 also a little after happy to hear some names.

No way in the world we take Sam Hayes at 15 cooperg, I'd bet my left nut on it.

We'd be all over Hunter Clark if it went the way you say and he was available at 15. There has been a bit of talk that we rate Oscar Allen as a third tall type who could pinch hit as a big bodied mid a few years down the track although I'd say he would only be a chance at 18 if all our rated mids were off the board.

Was debating this pick the most, because Brisbane have 4 ruckman type on the list. But Hayes could play as a tall fwd with Ballenden and Hipwood since losing Schache and Close.

Close should have been kept on the list.

IMO we have more than enough rucks on our list- Stefan Martin (30 years old) the number 1 at the moment with Oscar McInerney(23) and Archie Smith(22) developing nicely under him and Connor Ballenden(18) to come in next year, we also have Josh Walker(24) as a very handy 80/20 fwd/ruck type + Matt Eagles(27) who just signed an extension and while playing KPD most of the time was THE RECRUIT as a ruckman.

BTW I agree with most of your selections in the top 20 except for this Lions selection, it being the standout wrong choice IMO. I am also not a believer in taking 18 year old ruckman in the first round of the draft, too much of a hit and miss proposition for my liking.

Withe respect "Cooperg" it would be more useful if you were to include the reasons WHY you think that teams would select the players you have named in your phantom draft. Naughton, as I understand it, is another tall player; why would you expect the Eagles to take him instead of a midfielder ? Remember that the Eagles have just had two of their senior midfielders retire !

Fair enough, Yes the Eagles need mids, but if Naughton is their at your first pick I would feel your club would want to get a home grown talent. With those multiple 2nd picks expect them to be mids. Ryan, Kelly, Scholithe (maybe) and maybe Petruclle if available. Maybe James Worpel to.

That's why I was pondering for who the Lions t take with the Hayes pick but Eagles can play back line now and played that late in the NEAFL.

Archie Smith will be backup to Martin. Oscar behind both of them. Hayes can play as a key fwd with Hipwood and Ballendan. Lost Close, Schache and Hammelman.

Yeah would draft him has a key forward more than a ruck.

You don't really need any inside mids. Cunnington, Ziebell, young Clarke and even Swallow.

Running mids you need, aka J Stephenson.

If you had a good knowledge of our club like you say, you would know that:

Andrew Swallow will be lucky to get a game next year.

For us to because a serious contender again, Ziebell needs to be a forward whilst relieving the midfield in short stints

Cunnington is our no1 mid. He is getting better but can still be inconsistent. We don't have a genuine midfielder that has the ability to get 30 possessions a game and have a real influence.

Our midfield is littered with midfielders who are average or poor by foot. This is Stephenson's obvious weekness whilst it's one of Dow's strengths.

At the same time, Dow is not slow and has a good tank... something else that our midfield is seriously lacking... even more now that we no longer have Gibson.

Atley has plenty of game breaking speed to burn and needs to be used more in the midfield where he spent a lot of his time at TAC Cup level... Simpkin is also relatively quick and will hopefully transition into the midfield in future

So long story short, we need midfielders who get plenty of the football inside and out, use the ball well when they get it and have a good tank.

With that said, who would be a better option?

If available at your pick, honestly I'd want Adam Cerra, but the Roos are really keen on Jaiden Stephenson, they will likely take him unless Rayner or LDU fell to their picks.

Apparently the Dockers and Lions think Cam Rayner is a serious flight risk of they take him with the 1st 2 picks so are looking at L.D.U and Paddy Dow with the 1st 2 selections. Which means more than likely Rayner will slip to the Blues at pick 3 which would be a steal . Any 1 off the 3 would be 1st class additions for all 3 clubs but as a mad Blues fan I would love for this to happen. In saying that I would be extremely happy with any off the 3. Add pick 10 & 30 to the team , and a 1st and 2nd rounder in next year's super draft and we are on our way I reckon. SOS your doing amazing keep up the good work mate

Apparently? Did Lloyd tell you that?
Keep dreaming

No club in their right mind would play 3 players over 200cm in their forward line Hipwood being an athletic running type helps but Lions would most likely play smaller to medium forwards with Hipwood and Ballenden and wait for the more versatile Tozer

Hipwood, Ballenden and Hayes could play in the same team. Hayes would be depth anyway.
