Re: My Top 50 - 2012 Draft

Taylor will need to pull his finger out to be considered in the first two rounds.

Re: My Top 50 - 2012 Draft

Taylor probably hasn't had the start to the season that was maybe expected of him, but having said that his Championships last year were where he really stepped up. So maybe he'll do that again. Interesting to read the knock on his kicking, hopefully injury isn't the reason for a change.

With the amount of small outside types that WA have, there were always going to be ups and downs in the 'draft order'. Personally, I thought Yarran would be the one to drop.

Re: My Top 50 - 2012 Draft

As an Eagles fan, and given that a lot of people think that Glass will only play for one or two more seasons, I wouldn't mind seeing the Eagles go after either Corr or McIntosh as a "natural replacement" at fullback (assuming that either of them can play fullback).

Re: My Top 50 - 2012 Draft

Oh, I'm sure Harry Marsh will get a bit more attention as the season goes on. I love nothing more than a tall midfielder, and I do like Marsh. Him and Laine Wilkins are probably two my favourites.

Although Marsh hasn't really made the most of his size yet I feel, but he generally looks good with whatever he does as you said. He should have a real chance during the Championships to impress, getting the ball out to the fast outside guys.

There are a few guys like Marsh, Shaq McKenzie, Marco Paparone and Marvin Warrell who I've held off on so far. Want to avoid overhyping players too early on.

Marsh certainly has the breeding to become a mid, his uncle is former champion East freo centremen, Ray ' ugly ' Sorel. Marsh's mum was a champion sprinter I believe.

H.Marsh's younger brother J.Marsh ( 16-17 yrs old) sounds super impressive too, bigger and lightning quick. J.Marsh is playing league for the Margaret river hawks in the SWFL, been in the best a few times...His height is around 192 cm+..One to watch next year.

Re: My Top 50 - 2012 Draft

For how many more years do GC and GWS have the advantage of zone selections? Surely not much longer!

Re: My Top 50 - 2012 Draft

O'Rourke has made a very good start to the year. If he has a big championship can you see him pushing into the top 10 come years end?

Just this year I think? I know that's for the Suns. GWS might head till 2013.

As Sunny said, this is the last year for Gold Coast and Queenslanders. While GWS has one more year of picking from NSW and the NT.

Definitely could. O'Rourke is probably a bit like Elliot Kavanagh last year - injury problems, but a real talent. A strong finish to the season should see him being quite highly sought after.

Re: My Top 50 - 2012 Draft

no bushrangers I think you need to do a bit more homework in that area. only one nsw who will be preselected either by freo or gws moller some more homework there

Re: My Top 50 - 2012 Draft

So who am I missing then?

About the only kid from Murray to jump out at me right now is Tom Clurrey. But I only listed 50 players, that's not to say more wont get drafted either late or as rookies.

And as for players from NSW, when practically the entire squad is either a Swans or GWS Academy player I sort of lose interest. I'd expect most of them would be rookie selections - Vile, McGillivray, Jack, Redfern, Pleming.

Re: My Top 50 - 2012 Draft

Damn Melbourne had to go and win, didn't they? I spent this afternoon putting together a little pre-Championships mock. And of course I assumed Melbourne would lose...

I've always struggled with the notion of this being a 'superdraft'. The talent drops away after the top 30, just like any other year. And once again there looks to be a real shortage of key forwards and ruckmen. But it does look to be a superdraft in terms of one position - key defenders. There are easily 10 that I could fit into the first two rounds. Will be interesting to see what happens there, because teams often look to develop key defenders from later picks.

Re: My Top 50 - 2012 Draft

Saints are another in need of a key defender. I thought they'd take Talia last year, but they went with Ross.

there is plenty of names to give from both nsw & bushies look at the state game from yesterday, but I will give you one thats are real chance to be drafted c williams from bushies similar in height and size to both doug morris & olie wines can play back, onball & forward kicked seven goals against falcons brilliant overhead mark unfortunately season has been cut short by shoulder op. provedhe can play back last year in tac cup and this year has done it middle and forward. Has more strings to his bow than morriss last year who averaged 30 poss and didnt get drafted and wines who will do that this year

Fair enough. But still, I've only mentioned about 50 players - less than half the number that will get drafted. It's not like I've written off the Bushrangers. And as I said, all the best players from NSW are Academy players anyway.

Cadeyn Williams might have been able to push for an early selection, but because of injuries he will have only played 11 TAC Cup games in two years. You can only get drafted so high on the back of essentially one game.
