Beams and sidebottom missed nab round 1 last year, hardly hurt them.

Looks a very strong side

True - Glad we have a Strong Side and we have our 1st 3 Picks in 06 Playing in Reid,N Brown and Dawes

Interesting.

We've pretty much gone with the strongest side possible.
Whoever misses out is unlucky.

Saints have also gone with a pretty experienced line-up.

So these guys miss out;
Rusling, Anthony, Corrie, Fraser, Blight, Sinclair, Cook, Dick, Rounds, J.Thomas and Barham.

Only Fraser, Anthony and Dick (when not injured) are the walk up starters we are missing. Pretty bloody strong squad, looks a lot stronger than the Saints on paper.

Any guesses on the 3 to miss out? I think Daisy, Presti and maybe Lockyer or O'Bree might sit it out. Presti might play to get some touch, but a defender will definitely miss, we have Maxwell, Toovey, Presti, O'Brien, Buckley, Shaw, Reid, Goldsack and Brown all named.

Having all 4 of: Presti, L.Brown, N.Brown and Reid is an interesting decision.

L.Brown I expect will play forward if playing. And if the other 3 play then likely Reid will be moved onto a back flank.

Pretty sure presti will play invig, talking to him after the first intra club he said he was rusty and needed some match practice. So I'm expecting him to play alot of preseason if fit

St Kilda
2. Steven King, 3. Jack Steven, 4. Clint Jones, 5. Ben McEvoy, 6. Zac Dawson, 11. Leigh Montagna, 12. Nick Riewoldt, 13. Adam Schneider, 14. Jarryn Geary, 15. Michael Gardiner, 18. Brendon Goddard, 19. Sam Gilbert, 20. David Armitage, 21. Nick Heyne, 22. Farren Ray, 23. Justin Koschitzke, 25. Sam Fisher, 27. Jason Blake, 28. Rhys Stanley, 30. Brett Peake, 32. Andrew McQualter, 33. James Gwilt, 36. Tommy Walsh, 37. Leigh Fisher, 38. Will Johnson, 39. Alistair Smith, 44. Stephen Milne, 45. Luke Miles, 49. Steven Gaertner

Looking at the Saints Sides I reckon we can beat them as the have some Rookies in the team. Biggest Danger would if Riewold goes off

Yeah I remembered he was a bit rusty so I thought he might line up, he could potentially be a sub which would give him a half to get some feel. I just thought he tired towards the end of last season and he is only getting older, wouldn't want him burning out.
If Presti plays, surely one of the big defenders will miss? Either Reid, Goldsack or N.Brown.

Who do you reckon will sit it out?

Don't think Thomas will play, the others a raffle out of barham, obree, Lockyer, Johnson, Nate and goldsack.

If I had to guess Thomas, barham obree

Fairly predictable squad minus Blight's absence.

I think they are just being professional with Blight, he is still very young, and will get his chance, but I never expected him to play all of the pre season senior matches.

Out of that squad it's hard to see who would be left out, but I'll got with one of Lockyer or Johnson, Thomas because he may be a bit under done, and Cloke for the same reasons as Thomas.

Would mean our forward line will look pretty ordinary, which may pose a problem against the Saints gameplan.

I hope Cloke plays myself, without Anthony there, Leigh Brown and Dawes would be our 2 key forwards if Trav doesn't play.

Great squad. However I'm really disappointed that Blight isn't playing. Was really looking forward to watching him but I can understand why we wouldn't play him. Should be a good game but going by them squads we should win.

wow no fraser looks like i was wrong about him playing over wood.
Still recovering it seems, if both were fully fit i would say Malthouse would lean to Fraser

I don't think his mind is totally made up. If Wood looks the goods in the NAB, he deserves a Round 1 spot. If he doesn't step up in the NAB, it'll most likely be Fraser's.

I'd definitely hate to see Wood miss Round 1 if he performs well in the NAB Cup though.

Well out of that squad i'd like to see a 26 like this:

FB:-----Alan Toovey----Nathan Brown----Harry O'Brien----
HB:-----Heath Shaw------Ben Reid--------Nick Maxwll-----

C:------Alan Didak-------Dane Swan------Dayne Beams----
Fol:----Darren Jolly-------Luke Ball------Scott Pendlebury--

HF:----Leon Davis-------Chris Dawes-----Tarkyn Lockyer--
FF:---Paul Medhurst-----Travis Cloke-----Brent Macaffer--

Int: Simon Prestigiacomo, Tyson Goldsack, Shane O'Bree, Cameron Wood, Sharrod Wellingham, Steele Sidebottom, Simon Buckley, John McCarthy

Em: Dale Thomas, Leigh Brown, Ben Johnson

Probably harsh on Leroy given his preseason form but I honestly think he should just be depth this year. We need to move past him and start blooding our younger KPP. Maybe have him in the team ahead of Presti or Lockyer.

Thats a pretty strong line up on paper and should mean it is a very good game of footy.

I'd leave Presti out. He has nothing to learn and plenty of time to get set for the 2010 season. I'd rather see the younger options get a go. Similar with O'Bree & Lockyer.
