Still think the logical outcome is he signs for two years at Saints.

This gives Port two years to get their ducks in a row and accommodate a reasonable trade.

Otherwise hard to see how Port scramble a deal together that is feasible?

On a side point, if he re-signs, will he be a free agent in 2 years? I’m guessing a restricted free agent if that’s a thing still .

All I’ve taken from this thread is remembering how much I hate the player and agent power in AFL. Saints should be fairly compensated for such a good player and it’s ridiculous that they’ll probably end up with a couple shitty firsts and low end fringe player(s). People have issues with FS and Academy or whatever, frankly I take more an issue with this crap.
Most clubs trade in good faith, that’s why Geelong are on a lot of clubs ban list to deal with.

Or Port Adelaide will have to find a way to get picks off another team to satisfy St Kilda.

No They dont have to. The alternative is he walks and st kilda get nothing.

Its called cutting your nose off despite your face. Port dont lose anything. They keep their picks and don't lose a player. St Kilda on the other hand lose their best player for nothing.
Which one is the worst outcome?

In the long term—- Port Adelaide.

They become a club known for being unable to facilitate a trade, they become known as promising a kid the world but not delivering on the deal.

It’s a bigger picture than just NAS at play.

I thought the saying was cut your nose off to spite your face? Have I been saying it wrong my entire life

Or, St Kilda look like a club that cant get a deal done and lose their best player for nothing. Player managers would warn their players from going there.
Port have lost nothing. You cant lose something you never had.
St Kilda lose their best player for nothing, destroy the future prospects moving forward, and end up at the bottom for a decade.
Not to mention the supporter backlash.

You mean apart from all those other times we were able to facilitate a trade?

If he chooses Port, and I’m not convinced he will at this point, then a trade will happen. The only way he ends up in the draft is if Saints play hard ball which, I will add, is an entirely legitimate tactic for them.

The implication of the draft works for both sides of the negotiations.

Deciding between Port and Crows is the same as deciding to drive a Holden Gemini or an Audi R8.
Nasiah is all class just like the Adelaide R8s.

The relationship between the club, player and manager would have to be pretty rotten for PSD threats, and I just don't see that happening with a guy like Nasiah

It would be a massive failure of his management too if he can't guide his player through to the preferred destination - so multiples parties have something to lose by going with the PSD threat
