They are likely to be able to get a better trade deal in 2027 than they would have got now.

I just cannot see a world where Port could get the collateral here.

Internal sources at Port point out that St Kilda's 4 million over 2 years is a much bigger per year deal than Port were offering.

$2.5 million a year in the early years of a long contract is likely the front loaded version offered if going through the pre-season draft was required.
