I did a couple of times mistake both Mundy and Mayne for Fyfe at a distance, so many douche hair cuts in that side
Out next game is against the team with Wellingham and Masten oh my. But even those 2 got nothing on Tim Mohr from the giants. Lost the top knot and beard and replaced them with a rude Errol Flynn.

I love him. My favourite player outside of Richmond besides Bartel. He is an absolute superstar. Imagine how good the competition will be when Fyfe, Bontempelli and Hogan all hit their peak (I hope Hogan leaves the poisonous Demons though).
You left Dusty out of your list mate.

Freo are more attacking this year but when they need to score heavily and quickly they still struggle. They are no Port. They are still a Defensive team first, offensive team second.

It's amazing - the last four weeks according to the media and opposition supporters, we haven't won a single game but rather the opposition have lost them. The fact is Richmond out pressured Freo, cut off their outside run and used precise kicking to reduce turnovers. The whole excuses scenario - ie big game last week, been up for a long time - just makes you sound like the Channel 7 commentary team ;).

Take a leaf out of your coaches book and accept defeat humbly :thumbsu::)
You didn't really read my post did you mate? I said that some people thought that Freo were effected by playing a slog fest in the rain the week before but I thought they were beaten by a better team on the night.

Is this when I say I told you so? :p

Fremantle are still incapable of kicking a big score so when we jumped them early they would have had to change their structures and game plan completely to give them the offensive power to score enough to come back. Cutting off their outside run around stoppages and in particular, Fyfe's ability to feed the ball out to running midfielders made Freo's offensive drive ineffective. They were under pressure the whole game, bombing it into their F50 and giving our defenders plenty of time to win the ball and sweep it out. This is why they won the hit outs, contested ball and inside 50's but we won the game.

Great coaching and pressure from the club.

Not too sure you can say that just yet.

Fremantle will fall back into the mix after mid year and Fyfe will drop back into the pack too.

And this was my response:
I seriously doubt that.

I still seriously doubt that, especially about Fyfe.

Seemed to drop back to the pack on Friday night though didn't he? Plenty of players above him. If any of our midfielders had Sandilands giving them the taps to advantage Fyfe gets they would be the next superstar of the competition too. Take out the possessions he receives from the giant and he looks like just another talented midfielder to me.

That all sounds good in theory but:
In 2013 Sandilands only played 10 games and Fyfe won the best and fairest, and averaged 26 disposals a game (14 contested per game which was the fifth highest in the AFL that year). He also got 18 brownlow votes despite missing 4 games through suspension/injury. Not bad going for a 21 year old. So your theory doesn't really hold much water.

I'm not saying that he hasn't clearly been the standout of the competition this year. Nor am I saying that he won't continue to rack up the numbers due to the delivery he receives from Sandilands and his other team mates. Without Sandy he would be a mid 20's possession player. With Sandy he is a mid 30's player. That's a fair advantage in anyone's estimation.

I don't feel he will have the same impact he has had so far this year in the rest of the season. For the last two weeks teams have figured out that they can't stop him winning the ball (see my Sandliands comment above) but they can stop the impact he has on games by blocking his run and pressuring his first disposal. He'll still take the occasional hanger and kick the goal so he makes the highlight reel but all those big contested numbers will be meaningless if he doesn't impact the game.

Unfortunately your midfield doesn't run deep enough to give him a chop out and allow him space. If he can't break from packs he loses most of his impact.

So you really think that with Sandilands he'd be averaging mid thirty possessions a game and without he'd be averaging mid twenties? I have to respectfully disagree. He has progressively got better each year since his debut, with or without Sandilands. . Fyfe has his weaknesses (Set shots for goal in Grand Final) but a fair bit of what he does around the ground has absolutely nothing to do with Sandilands. (He's leading the AFL for contested marks for example).
If he played for Brisbane, Carlton or the Gold Coast Suns he would be one of the best (if not the best) players in the competition.

Fyfe is a contested player. He wins most of his ball around stoppages. This is where having someone like Sandilands to rove to is a huge advantage. They make a great team really. I would love to know the percentage of times Sandilands taps it to Fyfe over the other mids. Fyfe is not an endurnace athlete, he is a power player. His strength is through his ability to burst away from contests and find space. He can take the big grabs and kick the goals because of his strength to push through and past the opposition. If he wasn't winning the inside ball he won't be having the impact he has or get the possessions he is. How he roves to Big Sandy, Clark and co. make a big difference to his game.

I would love to have him in our side but he is not the messiah :)
