I'm disappointed that freeman has asked for trade, hopefully we can get something of value for him and move on. The thing I'm annoyed with is 2 years of injury and yet to play a game, and now moving on.

He's probably better off at St.Kilda to be honest. I'm not going to get all pissy and pretend we didn't want to keep him (like our Northern friends did with J. Redden recently), you can never have enough talented midfielders on the list. The only thing is, it's hard to see how he would get a game for us next year even if he does shake off the injuries that have ruined his career so far.

He's looking at a $600,000 contract (which will likely be his last contract if his injuries don't heal) and the chance at a fresh start. He probably considers it his last chance at a senior AFL career and I can understand why he wants to take it. It's just a shame we wasted one of very few top 10 picks we've had in the last decade.

Also, I have to laugh at Saints fans trying to school us on what will happen if we don't bend over and send him their way for nothing. They suddenly understand with such clarity what they couldn't get their heads around to save themselves 6 years ago. Funny that.

This will be very interesting - Freeman has thoroughly burnt every one of his bridges at Pieland, apparently the hierarchy is incredibly disappointed and rightfully so. To say he's left on bad terms is an understatement - there hasn't been a player walking out on the club on worse terms in the last twenty years.

As such, Collingwood aren't really in the right mood to do good by him, and the club really couldn't care less where he ends up. They'll turf him wherever the best offer comes from with about as much regard for Freeman's wishes as Freeman himself has shown to the club.

In short - it's entirely possible it won't be the Saints, because he's definitely not worth pick 5, and plenty of others will offer more than a second rounder. And it's abundantly clear the club couldn't give two shits where Nathan wants to play his football.
