This will be very interesting - Freeman has thoroughly burnt every one of his bridges at Pieland, apparently the hierarchy is incredibly disappointed and rightfully so. To say he's left on bad terms is an understatement - there hasn't been a player walking out on the club on worse terms in the last twenty years.

As such, Collingwood aren't really in the right mood to do good by him, and the club really couldn't care less where he ends up. They'll turf him wherever the best offer comes from with about as much regard for Freeman's wishes as Freeman himself has shown to the club.

In short - it likely won't be the Saints, because he's not worth pick 5, and plenty of others will offer more than a second rounder. And it's abundantly clear the club couldn't give two shits where Nathan wants to play his football.

You're right, and I very much agree with you, but the word that I (and it would appear others in this thread) have been hearing is that the club is a fair bit more annoyed (furious might be a better term) than any of us would have thought, and they're not going to look after Freo in the same way they did with Beamsy last year.

But he has a year of VFL history to back his claims up, and is shown to have been worth the risk.
Freeman on the other hand even with a nice pre-season, 2 years out without playing will find it lucky to play a meaningful season next year. Pay $300K a year for a kid who will spend most of his time in the VFL next year? Not worth the risk.

I know we all get emotional but you can't blame the kid. He knows if he has another year or 2 with hammies like the last 2 he is on the scrap heap. If he can get 300k a year and is smart with his money he can set himself up. Plus he knows his opportunities will be better at the saints. To us its a passion to those blokes its a career and a passion. Im not sure how many people on here would not leave their employer to do the same job for alot more money.
