Oh wow those are some lofty expectations. You'll end up like me. Trust me lower them. We aren't Hawthorn.

Why lower them? I am blessed with no mental scarring whatsoever from previous non results . My Collingwood experience started mid 2010 and so far it has been fun. I would like to see our club building towards a good dynasty, what is wrong with that. And from what I have seen so far, we are doing that. You can either take the slow route as Richmond do, slowly trading in and out and gradually going upwards and hope you can make the top. Or you can invest in youth and try to make it all come together in let's say a 3 year window. So far so good, we have gone through the deep end , it all looks promising and next year we will go upwards. For all Bucks his faults, if someone has the goodwill to make that transition it is him. Whether he will be that good once we get to play with the big boys is another matter. Not relevant for this year; next year will be hardening the core, we will shed a few more 'trusted' players and 2017 it is game on with a rejuvenated list.

Decided we don't need him now. We will have Treloar that's all that matters. As long as we can win 10 -12 games I'll be happy. Lowered my expectations under this new regime.

If we can bring Treloar in for just the loss of a 1st round pick and Freeman I think we'd be doing well. Given the rumours of a 1st and 2nd for Treloar the saints 2nd rounder should be enough.

Might be a blessing in disguise, if we can package this years 1st round pick along with the 2nd round we'll get for Freeman for AT then it allows us better options in the next few drafts

People are getting upset at a player who is nothing more than POTENTIALLY a good player, he hasn't played a game, so to be crying and lamenting his loss, is bordering on hysterics.

I'm crying over the loss of a top10 draft pick in a strong draft in which we could have chosen someone else. High draft picks don't grow on trees. Given the suspicion that has been expressed in this forum about Davoren and all our injuries, I am not happy to learn that Freeman is not happy with his rehab at the Pies. Seems he may not be the only Collingwood person to cross to the Saints as Dale Tapping is also rumoured to be heading there as an assistant coach.

Maybe Freeman is just a spud with dodgy twangers. He comes along and wants more money and we're all like yeah-nah and don't really put in much effort. Shaz kind of makes the same noises and we sign him up pronto. St Kilda gets a sniff and we say we're unhappy to lose him etc etc and then get what we can. Unless you know you don't really know. There must be all kinds of games going on in the background. Our moves over the last few years - Lamumba, Dawes - have tended to come out in our favour.

Yeh Treloar probably covers the loss of Daisy finally.

While technically the pick we got for Thomas was bumped up to pick 6 (Scharenberg) and our original pick was used for Freeman it's probably not a bad way of looking at it. Thomas -> Freeman + pick 7 -> Treloar

That was my thoughts immediately, screw him, let him go to the draft. You can't have players yet to debut bending the club over in negotiations, it sets a bad precedent.

We are just lucky we got Scharenberg over the line, it could of happened to us twice.

I think they have to sit out if they don't goto a club that drafts them. I don't think it has ever happened before.

However, there is no point sending him to the PSD as he will probably get where he wants to go anyway. I would only consider sending him to the PSD if the Saints offer us something ridiculous.

Freeman going is indeed probably about a little more than just the money but, it is also definitely about the money.

Manager/Player wanted more and stated the offer was not enough, its probably not sheep stations but it would be hard to offer too much to a kid who has not been able to get on the park for two years, albeit for a few reserves games that only showed us he needed further surgery.

I think the decision also says a bit about Freeman's confidence in being able to develop himself at Collingwood, if Treloar gets to the Pies we do have a lot of midfield depth and it would be hard to see Freeman breaking through the first choice midfield anytime soon; he may feel the same way. It is probably the 'get-out-stakes' for the kid, last roll of the dice so, in that sense good luck to him.

That is 9 or ten mids that are ahead of him right now and even if he gets fit and quickly leap frogs Blair and Kennedy, he still had a lot to do to get selected over the rest in my view. If he stays it could be year 4 in the system before he gets a senior game and his career is almost crocked.

That said, we can play hardball on this trade and try to get something decent based on him being a top ten prospect, the club is not dumb and wheeling Maxy out for a press grab effectively stating he was 'As good as Dangerfield' is a nice touch.

I doubt Max was wheeled out but you never know.

Player can put a price on his head but has to specify before the draft. For 300k Carlton would be mad not to take the punt and delist one of their multitude of spuds to fit him in.

They have form with nicking players who don't want to go there through the psd too. Nick Stevens is living proof of that.
