My friend Daniel has just rung me to say that there is a press conference to announce that Nathan Ablett will be coming to the club at 11.30am.

Yay, I think he will like playing with Gary.

C'MON THE MIGHTY CATS GET IT ON!

*Should* be shown on fox footy

C'MON THE MIGHTY CATS GET IT ON AND GIVE NATHAN NUMBER 5!

Its confirmed, pick 48 under the father and son rule..... I never thought he would play AFL. Truely amazing who was able to change his mind.

Definitely good news for the club, but some people are getting a tad carried away.

"greatest thing Costa or Cook have ever done", "better than junior", "will play in round 1".

Nathan may or may not be the next big thing, but all we have to go on are his genes (the same as Gary Snr and Luke!) and a few performances in a substandard competition.

We all know that Gary senior had it all, but Nathan aint Gary senior. Things change a lot, look at junior, a very different player from senior, why does everyone think he is the panacea to all our ills?

I'm looking forward to see Nathan's career develop, and, fingers crossed, it will be as a starring role in the Geelong line up for many years. But just as public pressure made him a reluctant starter, so will unrealistic expectations potentially hamper his career. All that we should demand of him, this year at least, is that he trains diligently and does what he is told. He should not be expected to play any matches next season and only a handful in the year after that, to expect otherwise may only drive him from the club.

Wow. Gotta say that at 193cm and 85kg without any Falcons training, I'm impressed. He has to fill out that frame first though. He may well play this year, it wouldn't surprise me if he did a Mackie and played about 7 or 8 games.
Well done Frank Costa and good on Nathan for listening and changing his mind. If I was given any gift to play footy, I wouldn't want to sit back in forty years thinking, if only...

He will probably not play any senior games next year. The year after though will most likely play in the Wizard Cup and possibly be braught in for a few games in the middle of that year.

This ought to be very interesting. I wonder how dominating for Modewarre will translate over to AFL? It sounds like he has the talent, anyway. Hopefully it'll bear some fruit for us. It's a surprise to me that he got over his reluctance to play, but it's nothing but good news.

Fremantle did a simliar thing with B Peake.
It will be a big jump in the standard of football N Ablett in playing at the moment to AFL level. Good luck to him, there is no doubt he has some talent.
It will take a lot of work to make it at AFL level. I am a bit worried about his attitude. It may be that he is just media shy, but to make it at AFL level you have to be committed to work hard.

BIG DEAL isnt he like 14 years old anyway

What crap are you talking about?

Nathan Ablett is the biggest recruit any club has had for the last 6-7 years.

If he had any other surname, he would be undoubtedly a top 5 pick in the draft, I've seen him play down at Modeware and he (potentially) will be better than Mr. Carey.

What are you talking about?

No one is getting carried away. The G.F.C have a genuine right to be excited and delighted to get the best young tall forward at the moment.

There are no unrealistic expectations from the football club and any supporter that has any smarts about them.

Who said he'll play in round 1?

Frank Costa, the Geelong Football Club, Gary Ablett Sr., Gary Ablett Jr., the whole Ablett family, and most importantly Nathan Ablett himself have a right to be proud of themselves and the way that they have supported (and not pressured) Nathan about being excited playing football for the Geelong Football Club.

Well done for your Nathan, us Geelong supporters will be behind you 100% for your career and whatever choices you make.
