Craig Gower - several alcohol related incidents at a charity golf day including crashing a golf cart and running around the resort naked. Fined $100,000 and stripped of club captaincy.
LOL! Sounds like he was an even better captain then Cuz.

NRL and AFL are about as bad as each other imo. NRL players seem to do a lot more very serious crimes (rape etc) where as AFL players seem to do smaller crimes more often like drink driving.

The AFL conducts out of season drug tests and can test any player in the league. If the Cowboys do their own tests of their own players then that doesnt mean that they can test every player of all the other clubs. Only the NRL can do that but they dont do it. Therein lies the difference between AFL and NRL.

And how does Saverio Rocca get a mention when it was the cop who did the wrong thing not Sav.

Both are as bad as each other in both drug related issues and sexual assault/harrassment issues. Look on forum page 3, the two posts of mine. They sum up a lot of the **** that has happened, anf with the RL it seems to have a greater percentile of incidents concerning rape, sexual assault or harrassment. The greatest problem is that players arent names and a lot of the time the charges are dropped or never revealed. So really the chances are the public doesnt really hear about a bunch of the stuff that goes on

Ok then, you go and find all the "so called" rapes RL players have done, and I'll go and get the AFL ones, you up for it?

I know for a fact the AFL will come out with about 10 times more offences.

You up for that?

Just because the media like to pick on 1 sport and only one sport, doesn't mean it isn't happening in other codes.

FFS, the only time some of the states in this country give RL any attention is when they have done something wrong.

Imagine if the media treated all sports the same?

So, you go find all the rape cases for RL for a start, and I'll do the same for AFL.

After that we can get into the "other" cases.

Hmmmm hate it when people dont even bother to read ppls posts. I said the higher PERCENTILE we HEAR about concerning the RL have been around some form of sexual misdimeanors of varying severity. Not saying they do it more, Just saying that the media is quite selective as well as who comes foward about stuff, and in comparison, the AFL hears a lot more about drug related issues.... Not saying one has more than any other just stating that what we as consumers are fed is a rugby league code who are always ruddy horny and and aussie rules code which either always has beer in the gullet or white powder on their nose. Plus a few more domestic issues raised about the AFL players... Dunno why.

Anyway, dont get me wrong I love my league, but Im saying most sports have their fair share of d/ckheads and ****rs.

Rabbitohs 2 dominating wins to nil losses

But seeing as you asked.......

RUGBY LEAGUE
Craig Gower - exposes himself to female Irish tourist.
(Players unknown) - 19 year old woman alleges sexual assault by Cronulla Sharks players at a hotel in New Zealand
Anthony Minichiello, Mark Gasnier and (unknown player) - involved in sexually harassing phone message implying group sex, on woman's answering machine by mobile phone. Stood down from the first State of Origin game and fined $50,000.[5]
Willie Mason, Trent Waterhouse, Craig Wing, Craig Gower and Mark O'Meley - fined for unprofessional behaviour and for leaving the team hotel after the side had returned from the night out.[6]
(Players unknown) - five Townsville rugby league players, playing at a sevens tournament in Longreach charged with gang raping a mildly disabled 18-year-old woman[7]
(Players unknown) - Bulldogs gang rape allegation - the rape of a 23 year old woman by six members of the Canterbury Bulldogs in Coffs Harbour on 22 February. Half a million dollars in fines were subjected to the club.
(Players unknown) - Second assault claim involving two Canterbury Bulldogs in Coffs Harbour in February
(Players unknown) - Woman claims sexual assault by two Melbourne Storm players at a South Yarra flat in February
Craig Gower - accused of groping a 17-year-old girl while drunk.
(Players unknown) - West Tigers players investigated over sexual assault at fancy dress party in Sydney pub.[14]
Anthony Laffranchi charged with sexual assault of young cheerleader at end-of-season party.
Tevita Latu - punched a 19-year-old girl in the face leaving her bloodied with a broken nose at a service station in Cronulla. He was stood down from Cronulla Sharks.

Im not saying there were more, just saying the general population is forced to fouc on these a lot more beacuse of the media intensity - especially concerning the Bulldogs

AFL
Stephen Milne and Leigh Montagna - Rape allegations by two women later dropped. [9]
John McCarthy, former AFL player appears in Adelaide court accused of three counts of rape.[10] He was later found not guilty.[11]
Peter Burgoyne and Adam Heuskes - Charged with rape but charges later dropped. The pair - along with Michael O'Loughlin - were alleged to have paid the woman "hush money" to keep quiet. [12]
Claims of some AFL players wanting to urinate and defecate on women at a strip club during an end of season celebration. [14]

These are the ones I could find for the AFL, albeit that the AFL seem to have a lot less coverage concernign this sorta stuff

Seriousl,y, go back to page three and look up all the drug related or relationship related stuff thats gone on in the AFL, and its pretty much embarrassing to be seeing these men as role models, and thats either code.

I agree no code is better than the other, but I fail to see how there are heaps of rape cases in the NRL, a dirty phone call isn't rape, dropping your pants isn't rape, punching a girl isn't rape.

The Bulldogs were cleared, the tigers were as well.

The media love to paint RL as he worst of the worst.

Yet when that Irish guy for the swans had his pants pulled down at an all girls school, the media make it out to be fun and having a laugh, see the double standards when you put it into the same contex as Graig gower in Kings cross?

Yet the woman who Gower flashed wasn't a school girl

Didn't the Brisbane Lions have Scotland yard and the FBI investigating them?

Never seem to have much of a say in the media about that?

Isn't there a guy playing for the Swans now who had to pay money to some woman even though he says he didn't do anything with his two mates?

If I was him and I was innocent, there is no way in the world I'd pay anyone money to keep the quiet, unless I was Guilty ;)

I know how many AFL players have had this thing hanging over them, there's a whole flaming thread over at LU full of it.

The NRL is no where near the AFL for off field bad behaviour, it's all media perception, and it bloody well stinks.

That is to say that mungoes aren't that bad really because those naughty AFL boys are much worse? Why don't you hang around at that forum and complain a little more about how the media conspiracy makes mungoes look bad?

This whole 'our code is better than yours' competition is simply an exercise in futility.

It's not the code, it's the numbskulls that play it. Both codes have more than their fair share of twerps, just as much as both codes have plenty of upstanding citizens.
