OK..4 seasons in my player as a 3pt Specialist PG. 11 minute quarters.

Drafted at #12 by the Jazz who I wanted to go to....only start the 1 game which was the last one of the season when Devin Harris got injured.

Season 2 I start the first 10 and put on the bench until I requested a trade...got traded to the Heat and stayed there until seasons end, made the final round of playoffs and lost. Broke their points record with 59 points. Led NBA in Steals and made All-Stars but played 2 minutes.

Season 3 still with the Heat..rumours come out that my teammates dislike me...next game they rarely pass me the ball so I request a trade and get traded back to the Jazz...and then i don't start despite being better than back-up PG...request trade and get shipped to OKC...make final round of playoffs again and lose again! Finish season as Most Improved Player and lead the NBA in Steals. Made All-Stars again with minutes there up to 5. My contract runs out and I am put into Free-Agency...for a 75 rated PG I won't get much...go to the Clippers on a 4 year 15m deal.

Season 4 my numbers go up. Points up to 25 a game, assists to 8 per game, rebounds 4 per game and steals 3 per game. Equalled Clippers record for assists with 25, broke their record in points with 69 and steals with 14, which was also NBA record. Currently sitting 3rd in conference at 23-15...OKC near last with Durant and Westbrook.

LOVE THIS GAME!

Started a fantasy draft association and went on a 4-0 hot streak. Then is the same game Josh Smith and Eric Gordon go down with injuries. Smoove is out for 2-4 weeks and Gordon is out for 1-2 weeks.

Preceded to lose my next two, bounce back and get a win, then lose in overtime. 5-3 now.

Marcin Gortat and Ryan Anderson are stepping up in Smoove's absence. Gortat is averaging 16 and 11 and Anderson is averaging 13 points.

God, never be the c for the bulls in my player. Horrible team.
They are a terrible team to be on full stop. Derrick Rose and Loul Deng if both on the court at the same time you have no chance of getting the ball before they throw up a contested 3. Sometimes Rose will just chuck up contested 3's without even running a play, don't understand it he isn't that good a 3 shooter to begin with.

I'm on the Bulls and the stagnant play is really annoying, looking to move on in seasons end which is soon since we're in the playoffs now. Any suggestions on which team is good to be on in terms of overall ball movement and generating plays?

Memphis was heaven for a Point Guard in 2k11, not sure about this year. Jazz isn't great for me.

Get rid of Devin Harris and you're good. They have a good SG in Burks so you'll only play in PG all the time.

That's the problem, I'm getting major minutes off the bench but most of them are at the 2. I play about 26 minutes and I think about only 6-8 are when I'm in my preferred position the Point Guard.

I'm playing a SF with the Knicks using 29 March rosters. They traded away Lin for Eric Gordon, so there's scoring potential galore there. I can barely get a look-in!

I've jumped straight from 2k10 to this, and the gameplay seems to have changed a bit. The key feels a lot more crowded than it used to be - no more hovering around to poach rebounds and easy lay-ups. Oh, and I suspect those press conferences will get old very fast.

Love the legends matches though. Playing as the early 90s Bulls feels amazing.

I'm now on the t wolves and it's a much better spread. Rubio is a good pg for any c.

I have a problem with the games cause after I won the NBA Finals in My Player the game just froze. Any advice?

Really liking the "My Player" mode. I don't watch as much basketball as I'd like to and while I understand the general concept and rules of the sport, I haven't really grasped it's nuances as I have with a sport such as AFL. Was very hard to figure out where to position myself early on before I turned on play-calling. The on-court graphics which tell you where to run and what to do made a huge difference.

Was drafted as a PF to the Knicks with pick 16 of the first round. After going something like 10-34 in the opening half of the season, and with my fan support dropping despite me personally having a fairly solid debut season, I requested a trade to one of the only teams interested in me, Cleveland.

We've lost our last 6 games to be 19-38 or something, though most of our matches are pretty close. I'm averaging 6.5 pts, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.5 blocks, but my numbers with Cleveland in the 4 or 5 games I've played with them so far have improved drastically. I really like the idea of being in a young team who will eventually (hopefully) improve to be one of the top teams in the comp. That Iyrving (spelling?) guy at PG is only 19 and looks the goods, while I'm only 21 in-game and so still have plenty of improvement as well. The rest of the squad is fairly young too, barring our Center and maybe one other. How long do people think I'm looking at before this team can reach the playoffs?

Anyway, one thing I can't seem to stop doing by accident is calling for alley-oop passes :o. It's because I hold 'LT' to make contact with my opponent near the key and then try to lay a screen for a teammate with 'B' when directed too, before releasing 'LT'. Have done it so many times....paid off two or three times which was pretty cool though.

Also, any tips on defense would be greatly appreciated. I get called in to SF a fair bit as I'm a bit shorter and more athletic than your average PF, but I do seem to struggle with on-ball defense when I'm not so close to the paint. I'm also struggling to figure out when it is I should leave my opponent to help out inside the paint. I suppose it's just a matter of weighing up the risk vs reward and trying not to pull too far away from your direct opponent?

As for offense, I go alright when shooting/dunking/laying up and when using post moves to score and draw fouls, but without the ball, I still tend to get a little lost in regards to positioning once the on-court icons disappear or when my icon says I should just stand there in the one spot. Should I try to lay screens, get in position to score or grab the rebound near the basket, or stay back to receive the pass if need be and to keep my direct opponent out of the paint to allow my teammates more room to work with?

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me. Like I said, I'm really enjoying the game but I don't watch enough of the sport to fully understand it's intricacies.

Currently i am a 3pt Specialist PG with the Knicks (actually a good team to play with) i have completed 26 games won 13 on the trot, now i am just having some issues. Just wondering if anyone has the same problem i do.

My stats from behind the arch are 99 3pt shot, 99 consistency, about 79 shoot in traffic (working on getting that up now). Anyway my issue ill hit my first couple of shots, then ill be wide open and ill miss the 3pt shot which is very frustrating. Just feels like im not aloud to hit the next shot that it is physically impossible to. I dont really understand because i have 99 consistency and that should keep the shots going in right?

Even though your ratings are very high you are still not going to get every shot in, remember that. Good three point shooters only shoot 40% tops, so don't stress if you miss a few.

Tell that to blokes like Ray Allen and Chris Mullin

Cheers, just very frustrating when i miss a wide open 3 and a spud down the other end of the court hits a contested 3, a bit annoying

Stephen Curry and Kemba Walker hit pretty much any shot in My Player mode...so frustrating. Whenever I vs them i get 30 points and so do they...they get about 90% shooting even though im right there...annoys me on end.

Just got moved to the Grizzlies as a SG and its great seeing the ball move and playing with guys like Gay, Randolph and Gasol is pretty good :D

Somehow managed to usurp Rose as PG at the Bulls in My Player, even though my player is average and Rose is rated 94. Now Rose has requested a trade.

Problem with Rose in the game is he always shoots, even when he has three defenders all over him under the rim, rather than dish it off to an open player. Or go for the 2 with seconds left when we need a 3 to draw level.

So many rage quits with this game.

Perimeter On Ball D is one of the more frustrating parts of the game thanks to all the slipping and sliding that your player does.
This video should help...essentially it's about staying in front of your man at the right angles:

As for help D, yeah you can get punished for cheating too much. I'm not sure what the best strategy on this is, I guess it's about reading the situation.
If there's a bad mismatch in the post then go ahead and double.
If your direct opponent is a bad outside shooter, then helping out isn't as risky.
If the guy driving the lane is a great passer then chances are he'll spot the open man and you'll get burnt.
In any case, always stay in touch with your direct opponent, particularly on the strong side of the court (the side where the ball is), be prepared to scramble back to him after you help out and if he gets it, don't always presume he'll shoot straight away which might result in a 'Bad Block Attempt".

As for offense, I go alright when shooting/dunking/laying up and when using post moves to score and draw fouls, but without the ball, I still tend to get a little lost in regards to positioning once the on-court icons disappear or when my icon says I should just stand there in the one spot. You've got play-calling set to 'Full' right? Shouldn't have too many problems if that's the case. Usually when you're icon doesn't move, your part if the play is "stand here and stay out of the way" while all the action happens on the other side of the court. (Makes sense I guess - you're not the best player on the team yet so don't expect to always be the centre of attention. It's a bit tougher being a big man too - as a PG at least you get to be directly involved in more plays).
Not much you can do in this case but what you've mentioned sounds about right - cut to open spaces/try to get into a good rebounding position.

Sometimes plays break down. Do the same things, cutting, moving to space. Or set yourself up in the low post and call for the ball if nothing else is happening.
If a guard seems stuck with the ball on the outside, you could go up and set a screen for him (although this can sometimes result in "Bad Screen Set").

Thanks mate, some really good tips in that video :thumbsu:

I do actually get suckered into a quick block attempt when my opponent receives the ball if I'm not right there with him. Trying to cut that out of my game by using the right stick more to raise my arms instead.

Have just changed play-calling to "full", had it set to "lite" will see how that goes, cheers. As for not being involved in the play as much being a big man, that really doesn't worry me, was more or less just unsure on how to best help the team out when I'm not supposed to be directly involved in the play, so cheers for the advice on that too.

About to have a few games now, any tips on how best to play with the Cavs as a PF?
