PS3 controller:

To Screen - Hold down the circle button. You'll know its an effective screen because the controller will vibrate and youll get the 'Set Effective Screen' points. If your teammate scores youll also get points for 'Set Screen for Score'.

Boxing out is holding down L2. Stand in front of an opponent, hold down L2 and if the opponent doesnt really move when the shot is taken then youll see your player do the box out stance and get points for 'Successful Box Out'.

Hope that helps. I use the screen a lot, particularly if it looks like being a play where your teammates ignore your advances for the ball. Its just easy points

Thanks for that. I seem to have got the hang of the Box Outs now. Haven't been able to get the screen, but it's probably my fault due to my custom PC controller set-up. I'll keep trying...

Thanks for the help!

Went from 29-31 to 30-38, now recovered to 34-38 and sitting 1.5 games clear in 8th of the Bucks who I get the privilege of playing once more this season. Injuries were a big factor in my skid and getting the players back was a big factor in returning to form, still, season is hanging in the balance and I'm loving it. Most addictive and involving sports game I've played.

Do you call plays?

Nah never, maybe should but have never bothered learning them and tbh, with the team I have I don't really need to. Melo, Amare and JR are all capable of getting to the rim themselves, then I have Grant Hill, Frye, Lin, Bibby and several other good 3 point shooters to dish it out to when it's too tough to get to the rim.

Lately I have been scoring around 50% of my points from the arc shooting at about 40%, due to Melo being out injured primarily.

Getting a little sick of being subbed off, then having a magical turn around in the scoreline, which in most cases makes it VERY hard for me to play on and win from there.

I made the Eastern Conference All-Star squad for the second year in a row, this time on the bench. Got subbed on towards the end of the first quarter, where we were down by 15 points. Shrunk the Western Conference All-Star lead to 7 points by the end of the second quarter. Start the third, but i was subbed off. We ended up losing by 19.

I was subbed off twice against the Dallas Mavericks, leading to them getting 25 point advantage over my side (Indiana Pacers). As much as i tried in the second half, i could only get it down to a 12 point difference. Before being subbed off again in the fourth quarter, we went down by 9.

The upside was that i faced a similar defeat against Miami, we were level at the first quarter, we were in front by 1 at half time, we were down by 15 at the end of the third. But we won by 9 at the end of the fourth :D.

Sometimes with the Bulls offense it can be a struggle to score but the only play I really call is Boozer post-up, he's so strong that he can get into a good position against most defenders I've come up against and score with ease.

I've been relying on the 3 ball a bit lately as well and Rose magic at the end of the game.

Beat Indiana in double OT which was sweet considering at the time they were 2 games ahead of me. I'm completely addicted to Association mode now.

Very underrated association mode. Full control over performance, tough difficulty, players' attributes actually make a difference and there are no real moves that work every single game.

I just blew my 4 win streak against the last placed Cavs, now am 34-39 but still 1.5 games ahead of 9th placed Milwaukee with 9 games to go.

I love how your team doesn't match up against some teams and vice versa. I have split my games vs Chicago (1-1) but only lost narrowly, while on the other hand got done 2-1 by the Cavs and nearly lost the 1.

So much realism, even if you lull in training a particular area you notice it in games. Very addictive.

Speaking of association, I came up against the clippers and Blake was dominating. Hitting fadeways, hooks, mid-range jumpers and I wouldn't be surprised if he hit a three. They made his post game way too good in this game.

Lucky for me Josh Smith put up 30 points, 11 boards and 3 blocks. 2 of his points were from the game winning shot. I beautiful fade-away from the post, on Blake.

T-Mac was a big part of the win, providing a spark off the bench with 15 points.

I ended up winning 103-102.

Funy how people are talking about Association mode now. Played the crap out of MP (90 rated PF), (84 rated PF) but lately got bored so have mixed it up with Association. Familiar with how it works because I played it and nothing else last year.

Started with the Wolves given I wanted to build them into a championship team from being terrible and they have lots of good young talent. Love, Pekovic and Rubio also got roster update boosts. Trades are still half broken. No way I should be able to swap Johnson and a 1st round pick for Paul George (A+ potential) or Ridnour and some scrub and 2 2nd rounders for Lin (upgraded) and Shumpert, etc. Also offloaded a couple of bad contracts.

Built this team

PG: Rubio / Lin / Shumpert
SG: George / Afflalo
SF: Beasley / Webster
PF: Love / Williams
C: Pekovic / Oden (buy him straight up as a FA as he doesn't get injured in the game and turns into a beast)

Only problem is if you have player roles on (I turned it off) and build these beastly teams, all of them whinge for more minutes, lose morale/rating and ask for trades. I guess it's sort of realistic but annoying.

Might start with Denver next. Tons of young talent to build with.

I've noticed a similar problem with my OKC association. Absolutely unstoppable now.

I'm looking to start a new franchise and slowly build. I'm trying to avoid team's that already have a 'franchise' player (ie Cavs). I'm thinking Denver or maybe starting fresh at Boston.

Charlotte Bobcats

I went the LA Lakers in my association mode, only playing a 29-game season though, no way i could go the full 82 games, would take me over 1-year to finish it i reckon. Anyway, i'm 11-1 and just had my first lost away to the Indiana Pacers who just couldn't miss, they were 13/20 from the 3pt line while my guys were just off the whole game, Kobe still managed 32 pts though, went down 74-89 in the end. Playing 8 minute quarters also, because 5 mins is too short and you don't score much and 12 mins is just a marathon and takes 1 1/2 hours real time to finish.

Playing as a SG for the Bulls in MP mode. Averaging 19 points, 5 boards and 5 assists per game and got a triple-double the other day. Good fun this is.

It's strange in the post season, whenever i watch the white house visit it doesn't work. Xbox 360 version.

Doesnt sound like the same issue I had. But I had a similar issue when it would always freeze after the final game of the season. Turns out the easiest fix was to turn on auto save prior to the last game and turn back on when you got to the new season.

NBA 2k11 was really bugging for me and it would sometimes just refuse to load ... 2k12 has been a lot better. But still problems which can be so frustrating

Hit a wall in My Player, i'm only 10 games away from starting the play-offs. Yet i feel like chucking it in, i want to just do key games from now on to speed up the process to get to the end of the regular season. But i don't want my scoring stats to drop, yet if i do only play key games from here on.... my Assists stat will keep rising.

**EDITED** Finished second in the Eastern conference at the end of the season. Matched up against the Knicks in the first round of the playoffs...... going to be tough considering i either walloped them or they walloped me during the regular season. I'm already down 9 points towards the end of the first quarter (saved the game and resuming it later).

Continued my Golden State Warriors Association save, i couldn't put Utah away, i kept on getting out to a 9 point lead, but they found a way to shrink it to 1. Barely hung on in the end.

With Portland as a 6'3 PG in My Player. We are cruising at 33-7. Averaging 26 points, 12 assists, 4 boards and 3 steals. 5 turnovers though. Just got my Jordan shoe.

Well my suns finished 3rd in my first season. First round will be the Blazers.
6'6 SF, averaged 24 points in the regular season, made the allstar reserves team, NBA first team and rookie of the year. He's rolling right now, finally got my 3 up to 80 so I can do something else besides drive and dunk.

Was getting very annoyed, i tried resuming My Player and the game kept crashing back to the desktop :thumbsd:. It loaded after the 6th attempt, it think turning off auto save actually helped.

Also with my last post, i smashed New York 4 games in a row to take the first round 4 - 1 :D. I won each game by 14-15 points, the final 2 games could have gone either way (New York shot up to a 14 - 0 lead before the end of the first quarter in both games) but thanks to the cpu subbing me off constantly we were able to catch up, get on top and smash them.

For those who have played at least a few seasons in My Player, do you spend your skill points that you earn in drills and games on your Attributes and then wait till your raking in the big bucks to buy skill points and upgrade your Abilities? Or do you occasionally save up? The reason I ask is because I received about 15,000 skill points in one game and I was wondering whether it was worth spending on Abilities or whether it wouldn't make any difference as I would be able to buy my way there in a season or so?

I spend it all on the attributes. I'm now rated 90 with my PF and ranked most things to full so just starting on abilities.

He's a beast. "Poor" rating in many abilities hasn't stopped me one bit.

I do this also but my dude is only up to 74 ovr and the last 3 seasons I've just missed out on playoffs, 3 different teams and now I'm settling in Phoenix 3 games out of the playoffs with 3 easy beats coming up.
