2k10 by a long long way.
Not only does it have better presentation, signature shots an better graphics but gameplay is alot better too.
And the My player mode is freaking awesome.
Start of with an overall rating of around 40-50, get invited to train in an NBA training camp do well an u may get picked up by an NBA team.
Most likely you will be put in D league(level below NBA) then you have to play well to get picked up by an NBA team or once again go to a training camp.
Each game u play u get skill points to improve your players ability.
You will not be a superstar in the NBA after just 1 season it takes atleast 2.

Oh and if you get the PC version u can download heaps of great addons.
I just downloaded Michael Jordan for my player mode

Just got my new 360 and got 2K10 (my first 2K game previously went for Live) and played a quick game last night.

Whilst it took me a while to get used to the controls, and probably will take me a bit more to be comfortable with it, I found 2K10 to be a much more realistic game. Can't wait till I start the My Player mode.

Decided to give the 2K10 a go instead of sticking with the EA NBA Live version. Game is good, graphics great game play solid, but in my first 15 games i just find it too hard to shoot. I tried training to get the timing, it keeps telling me my release was perfect, only to hear "CLUNK".

I need help before i bench the game for good.

I've gone back to rookie, obviously am selective with who is shooting and from where, pass it around to get someone free but clank!!

If anyone has some tips that may assist. Even on rookie i seem to have the computer scoring at 60% plus and I'm lucky to get above 30%. Poor ol' Kobe has never been 0-15 before and its getting to him. Is there a secret technique?

Ill be greatful for any helpful assistance, tips or whatever, I love a good NBA sim but not when I keep getting my behind handed to me over and over on the easiest level using one of the best teams.

Cheers.

Unlike NBA Live the 2k series is more realistic even with superstar players your going to struggle to win games if you hog the ball an try to play without passing the ball.
Even if you time the release perfect if your under pressure it wont go in all the time just like real basketball.
Look for the open man an pass it to him to take the open shot, pass it around to create space an drive to the basket.
Pass it down low to the big men wait for double team then pass it back out to guards for the 3.

If you just get the ball an then try to hog the ball an run around to get him open then shoot off the dribble you will struggle.

Or if u prefer to play it like the NBA LIVE series and want to play that style go into the options sliders and raise things like shooting percentage, % under pressure etc etc.

where are you people finding 2K10 for sale? I've looked everywhere for it. JB Hi-fi doesn't even have it in stock according to their web site. It's getting a little fustrating as i've been wanting to pick it up.

Thanks for the tips Sman-21, ill keep at it.

As for 2K10, I got it at JB, 2 weeks ago. They had plenty in the shop on the shelf.

Pc version on steam for 20us dollars so was about $22 aus when i got it.
But most JB's and EB should have it now even seen ads on tv for it.

Thats it trade in time. Ill give NBA live 10 a try.

Finally started winning with the Lakers, so tried the Mavs and its like starting again even dropping it a level. Way too hard. Its gotta have some difficulty but how about save it for the harder levels. Im playing rookie and in thegame I just played the Magic hit every 3 pointer in the 2nd half even with pressure. Thats my vent.

I bought 2k10 on release for a change, as I have been a loyal Live player since mega drive days. I thought My Player and Association modes would have more longevity than Live. Unfortunately I found both to be frustrating and, well, boring, especially My Player mode. I gave it a month and eventually went back to Live. I think maybe I was too used to Live but I just stopped wanting to play 2k10, although i did give it a shot. I am now happily back playing Live, and am interested to see if EA take notes off 2k10 as I think Live would benefit greatly from some of 2k10's features.

Yeah the live series would benefit from having gameplay that actually resembles the game of basketball.

I have always purchased both and still give 2k10 the go ahead but Live is still a very fun game to play. Does anyone else get frustrated with Dwight Howard averaging only 10ppg and 10rpg in Live?? that really pisses me off! the one thing I do like about Live is the face up move on offense, always confident when Melo or Lebron face up defender 15-20ft from the basket where as I find in 2k10 they are not as consistant with those mid range pull ups.

^I find it hard to control big men in Live, they lose the ball really easily, and yeah I can't get Dwight Howard to dominate a game (maybe I'm pressing turbo too much). I have to rely on Jameer Nelson and VC as my top scorers consistently by either getting open shots off the high screen or driving to the basket.

Dirk goes well for the Mavs in 2K10, so you just pass it around until he gets it and shoot. When he has a bad night its not much fun tho.

I bought Live the other day i actually like this one better than 2k10 for some reason but that is mainly because of online which i think is better on Live than 2k but it's so much harder to score which i dont mind because most games are close biggest loss to date is 10 pts also the lesser sides are better to use in this game than they are in 2k.

2k is better overall but if your more after online play Live wins hands down.

Definitely 2k10. Played Live 10 and it was shocking compared to 2k. I think 2k10 is more of a basketball sim compared to Live which feels like an arcade game. 2k10's online is laggy as f**k though

I read a few reviews that said 2k10 was the more arcade-like game this year with too many dunks, that's why I decided to get Live 10... but now I want to rent a copy of 2k10 to see what's up.

I did see a video of a 2k game that had pick and roll in practise mode where you can try out all sorts of stuff with a full defense, that seemed really good compared to Live 10's Dynasty Mode training camp where there were only 2 v 2 on the pick and roll mode.

Yeah, I agree with those reviews a bit, there are a few too many dunks. I had to give the sliders a bit of a tweak along with a few other things and its great. Plus Lives player models are whack and look like plasticine :p

Not sure about Lives game modes but 2k10 has a mode where you can run your plays or just have a scratch match kind of thing with no fouls etc. I think Live has that daily roster update thing though compared to 2k's living rosters (once a week but I swear its longer )

I recently found out that this game is broken.

It is the only PS3 game that it is impossible to get the platinum trophy in. 2k sports have publicly announced that they have no intention to fix the problem.

Pretty dissappointing.

Without even playing live i can say it sh!ts all over 2k10
One of the most bug riddled games i have ever played.
Releasing patches to fix previous patches.
you only have to jump on the 2ksports forum and look at the THOUSANDS of complaints and issues.....

Yeah that is true i have only had live for a week now but thats 3 days longer than i had 2k10 (2k10 frustrated the hell out of me). Both have there bugs but i haven't experienced as many in Live to this point and like i said in a previous post online is much better games are generally closer although i have had a cpl of beltings to noobs who use full court press from the start or just keep shooting with LeBron or Kobe. But you also can get a game in 2K10 it was hard to get games online and the 2K servers were always down.

I'm still loving NBA 2k10 and that's a big statement from someone who doesn't really fancy basketball all that much. I'm in the pre-season for my second season and I have a fairly formidable Thunder squad:

Starters:

Russell Westbrook
James Harden
Rudy Gay
Kevin Durant
Brooks Lopez

Bench:

Chris Kaman
Jeff Green
Something Allen (I forgot his first name but he is at the Celtics in real life, a point guard)
Brandon Rush
2 draftees, rated 71 and 70, and the guy rated at 70 is superb. He's a 206 cm small forward monster who is very athletic, a fantastic dunker and a reasonable mid and long range shooter.
My last bench player is some 30 year old hack who is rated about #60 and I never play him. He's only on my list because I needed to take some players from the Timberwolves to get the above draftee that I just described.
