Nothing against Daicos, but Horne is in front of him due to exposure this year.

Horne's going to be great but he'd have to start pumping out Dusty Martin Norm Smith like performances to genuine make pick 1 a conversation. There's been plenty of kids play high level SANFL footy in their draft year. It's a nice box to tick but recruiters aren't stunned by it. Daicos didn't need to play another game after the form he showed earlier in the year, he's a lock.

It all depends on the AFL's desire to police draft tampering.

I doubt North give up the rights to Horne without a king's ransom, but if Collingwood agreed to not pick Horne with pick 1, then North surely would've done the swap for something reasonable (either future 2nd/3rds, fringe players or even a future first in return for other picks back) and maybe even agreed not to bid on Daicos. They would be getting something nice for giving up absolutely nothing.

In return all 16 other clubs would be getting screwed.

The only issue is Collingwood would be taking the 3rd best player with pick 1. Then Horne and Daicos go pick 2 and pick 3, maybe even in that order. It would be clear as day that there was something dodgy going on and the AFL might've been forced to step in and veto the trade.

They didn't do that when Adelaide and GWS made a swap around the Tom Green draft, but this case they might've had to.

Nah buddy, you have to match with your next available picks so Collingwood would have had to use pick 2. You can't just bundle up a bunch of nothing picks and keep your top end picks,

Thats crap. North use pick 1 on Horne. You use pick 2 on Goater. Someone bids on Daicos at 3 and you use your next pick plus points.
If North bid on Daicos on at 1. You simply take Horne at 2.

If we still had pick two, North would not let us get away with picking somebody and then getting Daicos after, and it's foolish to suggest otherwise.

Think again about the bolded, I'm not sure what you've put together here. Are you suggesting we let Daicos go?

Good news is you get Daicos PLUS pick 1 in 2022. So maybe that was the plan? Could end up ok.

Might make it all feel better when reality hits about what s shit show you are in.

Best result from here is start from scratch. Get Craig Macrae in. Nick Daicos plus pick 1 in 2022 and hopefully Macrae and Henry and McInnes are all ok. That is a nice place to begin a rebuild.

But the 2022 spoon is almost already set.

So you pick someone else up at 2 and then someone bids for Daicos at 3 and you match? No matter how you spin it, you missed out on two top 4 picks

If Daicos goes pick 1 you’d have enough draft picks to cover pick 1 and still have #2
