He lost me when he said last year that we should try Mackay as a forward pocket. Guy is either talking rubbish or talking about his own past achievements. Has anyone ever seen Mackay change direction by doing anything sharper than a slight veer? Has anyone seen him use the left side of his body? There's nothing he's ever shown that suggests he'd be even as good as terrible playing deep ahead of the ball.

imagine the uproar when he wanted to start Shane Ellen at FF.

Doesn’t he know the guy has shown nothing to suggest he’d be even as good terrible

Blight is someone suffering from "Angry old Man" syndrome similar to Ian Chappell. You don't get to be the competitive beasts that these guys are without having that fire inside you. Chappell who has a more advanced case isn't worth listening to on any level. Blight is still entertaining for his past exploits but definitely not for his views on contemporary football administration or coaching.

is that because neither agrees with you?

Again, Shane Ellen had the tools to be able to succeed as a forward. Strong hands, good leap, ability to move sideways, 2 sided by hand. Mackay has not a single attribute that suggests he could play deep ahead of the ball. Not one. Strange as it sounds, Shane Ellen was not the first backman to be thrown forward and snag a couple of unexpected goals. That it happened at the opening bounce in the biggest game of the year has elevated it into folklore around here. It was a firced move that worked courtesy of Modra's injury. It doesn't mean that he's right every time he says someone should have a crack in a pocket. Or that he's not completely cooked these days.

that’s revisionist

that’s revisionist

When I complained about Laird going putrid at half back and he had all the requisites of a quality stoppage player and should get a midfield run it wasn't revisionist. Plenty of backs have gone forward and kicked goals, it was happening well before Blight threw Ellen forward at the start of that GF. Mackay is not a back/mid who would do even poorly that deep ahead of the ball. It was a shocking call by a cooked brain. No better than Walls' constant call to give a key position player a run in the ruck to get them into the game.

he’d kicked 2 goals in his career, and was a complete shock.

you’re wasting your time on this one

You're obviously having the same problem with the site I'm having...slow and continually getting the bad gateway 504 message when the page doesn't load.

Could they not reshape Adelaide No.2 and make a full size oval? Should be able to fit a full size Adelaide Oval if they use the turf practice cricket pitches and the row of grass tennis courts/2 hard courts directly behind, as well as the bitumen track around the perimeter. Take over some outdoor tennis courts to build facilities. Use existing change room facilities in Adelaide Oval? Good undercover view from David Hookes Terrace to the 2nd oval already in place.

Tennis SA just spent quite a bit of money (for them) rennovating those courts as part of their long term plan for Memorial Drive, they aren't there to be built over.

Fair enough, can understand that. What if the Crows could take the lawn tennis area, plus those green hard courts. The Golf Club gives up the Par 3 course. The lawn tennis courts are moved to the Par 3 course and potential for a "Show Court" type set up there for the tennis. The Crows build their dream facility in the south-western pocket of Adelaide No.2. The cricket drop in pitches are curated on the north-eastern pocket of the Oval (the other side of the boundary) or at Park 12. Screen Shot 2021-03-09 at 8.26.21 pm.png

I think you'll find that's on Parklands (Oval No 2) - as is the Adelaide Oval.

Now people want that moved as far away from the ground as Thebarton? Even mentioning the train or tram stop is only a km away or something, by the time someone gets out of the stadium, lines up for transport, walks the km, it's going to be almost 2 hours after the game.

Steady on. It’s only a swift 40 minute (3.7km) walk to Thebby Oval from AO.

Yep 5 ks per hour is a pretty normal pace.
I hitchhiked in Canada once and ended up walking a marathon. 😱 finally got a lift back to Banff at 1:30am around 40 K out of Calgary. 8 hours walk was not much fun.

That’s what the Phillipines said about those islands they build fishing shacks on.
Just before China rolled in and turned them into new Naval ports. 🤣
