Question for the developer if he's still around.

- Did you copy the control scheme from the Pro Evolution Soccer Wii series?

- If not, why?

For those who haven't played any of the PES Wii games, it uses the IR pointing of the Wii remote to control the team. Whearas EA were increasingly focusing on giving you control over one player, Konami went the other way and actually used the Wii's strenghts and allowed you to control the entire team.

So what happens is, you control the player with the ball with the analogue stick, and using the IR pointing to control the rest of the team. You can tell individual players to run to a certain spot, make dummy runs, tell the ball carrier exactly where to pass, etc. It's the closest any video game has actually gotten to simulating all the aspects of a sport, in my mind.

Ever since I played PES Wii, I thought how awesome that control scheme would be in an Aussie Rules game. I really think it's the only way to actually do it justice. Being able to tell players where to lead. Telling team mates to shepard, kicking the ball into space, etc. It would have been so awesome.

I asked the same question a while back mate and unfortunately no, there is no IR control. Like you, I've always thought just how perfect this control method would be for AFL.

Without going back and reading his answers, it was looked at but for one reason or another was not implemented. I think it was the second or third set of answers that WickedWitch gave.

Thanks for the reply.

That really is a shame. It would have been perfect. And a good differentiator to the 360/PS3 versions.

For those struggling with AFL Live's controls and difficulty level. Perhaps this game might suit you more. AFL Wii differs from Live in being more arcade like.

Hi Wicked Witch. Can't wait for your game, will be pre-ordering it in the next few days. Can i ask my the classic controller can't be used, as this is something i was really looking forward to. Can i also ask, can motion actions be turned off, or do they always have to be used. Not that it will bother me if you have to be waving the Wii remote around, that is what its made for. Lastly, will you be releasing a trailer, or will you just stick to screenshots?
Thanks a lot, your help is appreciated.

Hi Everyone,

It has been a while since I have answered a few of the questions that have been floating around. I do keep a regular eye on this thread so if a good question hasn't been answered at some point in this thread I will answer it ASAP. Anyway, sorry to anyone that has been hoping I would answer their question sooner.

Wooddog - We had contemplated supporting the classic controller however the publisher really wanted us focus on the GameCube style controllers as there are already a number of control types supported. You cannot turn off motion controls if you choose to use the Wiimote or Wiimote and Nunchuk combination. We do have a trailer for release however we were hoping to get more facebook likes before we decided to release it.

Lionman - yes you can choose what Guernsey you want. Most AFL teams have a Home, Away and Heritage Guernsey and potentially a Clash Guernsey as well.

Legend166 - hope your question has been answered sufficiently.

Baz_hawk - There are some career stats such as games played and goals scored. Each player will have stat totals for kicks, marks handballs etc but this is season to season. The game is not as dependant on handballing but as you increase the difficulty of the game, handballing might become a key gameplay strategy for you. You can handball while being tackled if your arms are not pinned in the tackle. Yes there is a tribunal and while you can perform off the ball bumps, doing it too far away will probably result in a free kick.

Thanks Bloods86, TMS, scottyb94 and HBK619 for the positivity on the graphics. We appreciate the support you guys are giving us. TMS - we all had a good laugh about Sloth ;). Not long until the game is released. Hope you guys like it!

I think you'll find that if you post the trailer on your facebook page you'll get plenty of likes - quite potentially a lot more than 1,000. I'd certainly be more inclined to share it with like-minded friends if it was there - but I'm no social media expert. ;)

I am counting down the days till I can buy this game, why did it have to come out so much longer after the PS3 and XBOX360 versions? I'm suffering here!

It would seem the Tsunami/Earthquake/Nuclear disaster in Japan was what delayed the approval of the Wii version, and thus the release date.

hi wicked witch
cant wait for the game, with the VFL it might sound like a stupid question but are the Collingwood and Geelong VFL Teams in there?

Probably been already answered but are the VFL teams and players licenced on the game?

Hi Everyone,

Collingwood and Geelong VFL teams are in the game however the VFL player names are not licensed. There are a few interchange settings including an auto rotation feature.

Hope you enjoy the trailer.
