i thought graham did retire but richmond said that we'd take him so he came out of retirement.sante said:Hammerfire, i guess you think AK, Graham, Staff and Richo should all retire to then?![]()

Hammerfire said:Kellaway - If he doesn't doo much this year you'd think he'd be close to retiring, as he'll be 30 at the end of '05.
Graham - We've got Graham to help with our major problem (Defense), only has a year in him.
Staff - Was given a 1 year contract simply because at the time our talls situation was unknown ie: No Simmo, No Knobel, Ottens uncontracted.
Richo - No.

I thought that was what Gaspars Ransom money was for, but if after agreeing to pay a bloke $600,000 a year for five years we still find ourselves in the market for someone in his positon then thats football I guess.
Sorry Im not one of the blokes to pat Gaspar on the back for taking a pay cut. Just dont think ill ever really warm to him.
As for position, 3rd tall defender/running half back type. Capable of pinch-hitting (did it for us for ten seasons pinch-hitting) FB too.
Graham's strengths are his reading of the play and endurance. He would have been an excellent HBF/winger. Unfortunately, he's going to be forced to play as the 1st/2nd KP defender for the Tigers - not that he isn't capable, he is just more suited to a different type of play.
I have always considered Graham to be a HB flanker or BP player, but over the years the Hawks have suffered a lack of height in key defensive roles, so he has found himself lining up on players like Ablett etc.
I always considered he played those roles well, and always gave all he had for the brown & gold. I can see him playing a few games for the Tigers this season, mainly across half back. As someone said before, he is better value than some of the hacks Richmond delisted. Very true.
I would play him personally as a back flanker, or taking the 3rd tall, but the flank is more his position, disposal is the main worry with him, has tons of courage, and will give it his all, maybe even slot him up forward the odd time.
Hammerfire said:I know you can't stack a list full of kids, but i would of preferred another kid on the list rather than Campbell.
Bentleigh said:Why would he retire?
In the FP role he could add 2 goals a game to the side.
He will be a Waganeen/Voss type player in the forward pocket![]()

Campbell, Graham, and Stafford are all likely to retire at the end of 2005.
Kellaway, Chaffey, Hilton, Morrison, Tuck and Pettifer are all year to year propositions.
rick James said:haha yeah but he's nowhere near as good as either wanganeen or voss!
seriously, this thread has me in hysterics... only a richmond fan could construct something this ******ed![]()
