It was a nice guernsey but unfortunately didn't solve some clashes.
Would solve every clash but maybe Collingwood. And that wasn't even that bad. Could have the main tri-panel, this as a clash then the current one as an away v Collingwood clash if really needed.

St Kilda have had pretty much the same clash jumper for the last 4 seasons, and a pretty similar looking clash since 2009. It does the job perfectly well, but that doens't mean that another design couldn't. I see barely any of them in the stands, and this year there were more Stickman jumpers by a big margin. I can see us wanting to make a change to get more revenue.

I wonder if a club like Fremantle, who have the perfect clash jumper, will ever change.

Why does everyone expect a jumper to change every two years? Needs to be kept consistent, and therefore the jumpers become recognisable for people that aren't familiar with the AFL.
Clash jumpers exist for people to buy them.
Once everyone who is going buy one has bought one, they release a new one so people can buy that one.
Clubs rely on a certain amount of merchandise sales per year, the best way to guarantee that is to have new versions of the same thing for supporters to buy.
If clash jumper existed solely to resolve jumper clashes they would not be in club colours, they would be Lime Green for example. However, Lime Green only sells in Seattle, so the AFL clubs will not use it.

St Kilda's current clash is perfect. Not sure why you'd want it changed.
I dont know, i dont mind the change of clash jumpers sometimes, it keep it interesting and it something to look forward to for your club in the preseason
The best case scenario is having something new every few seasons (for interests and commerciality's sake) but something that's always good. No one complains about the Freo, Port, and the Pies' clash jumpers because they're good looking and solve issues. But people will always complain about the Crows' recent ones (mostly because they're ugly).

St Kilda are probably the best example. They've got a good set of colours, which is the main thing. But they can alternate on the theme of their home jumper (which is my preference, see the Bullies to North to the Swans). Or they can experiment with the cross as they are now (while still carrying over a bit of the regular design everyone knows). The candystripe design is in club colours (undeniably Saints) while holding historical prominence and being a one-of-a-kind design. And the Hot Cross Bun is one of the few examples of brand new designs looking as good as hundred-year old ones. You couldn't begrudge the Saints for keeping any of these for the next 25 years as a clash top. And how many people would really hate a return to any of these?

The same goes for North. They've got the inverse, they've got the heritage-indebted one, and they've got a unique design that's almost too good to not be used. Again, the only shame in change would be if they butchered it (which they certainly have).

Pity Andy D isn't in the job anymore, lightbulbs'd be appearing with this comment...

Of course teams would have to dress them up as something they're not.

Essendon's would called the Gary Moorcroft once took a speccy jumper.
It has the names of the premiership players, because everyone wants to know who played in that 1920s flag side, and it will also feature an old logo from that club's past, because most people don't have anything with that logo on it, and it looks all retro and cool.

Yes I know the Red on the front is different from the Red on the back.
And I don't care.

I don't know about that one. We've seen Melbourne Victory use a fluorescent yellow/green which I believe was met with a positive reaction.

I find it fascinating that clubs are completely willing to compromise traditional guernsey patters, but are not willing to compromise traditional guernsey colours. I would actually prefer to keep the patterns over the colours.

The EPL clubs have now matured enough whereby their away/clash strips adopt traditional designs but with alternate colours. Some of them are very easy on the eye.

My prospective club to champion this has always been Carlton, because the monogram is so iconic that having it in any colours would still scream Carlton. More so than any other club IMO

I won an away guernsey comp on this board with a fluro green Carlton strip with navy collar, cuffs and side panels. I'd love to see them have a go at it.

This showed up on Pies shop today. Looks same but with changed Star logo.

I liked the simplicity of just having the star, but that newer logo fills the space pretty well. I just wish they'd get rid of the piping on the side panels.

And so that we don't have to watch Essendon v Richmond with nothing but a sash and a pair of shorts to distinguish them.

Should be shirts v skins in the indigenous game. This would help avoid the clash, and would pay respect to people nationality, and being proud of where they are from.
