The Lions board is the primary board that I read and post on here at bigfooty. I've been visiting the site daily since 2000 so I'm not likely to be disappearing too soon. I think I'm a fairly well respected poster who has never caused admin and troubles...

Anyway, that's enough big-noting myself.

Anywhoo I will be tallying all the nominees up at the end of the weekend as a lot of people only appear at weekends etc. All nominees will then be contacted to ascertain if they wish to be considered.

Can I ask again that we keep this thread simply to nominees and reasons why, any issues with why not sent by PM and any other discussions held eslewhere. Just keeps this thread clean and easy to sift through, thanks V much.

As many of you are aware I am unable to post a great deal because of a disability, however my soulmate reads most posts on this board for me, and as I have said in the past, I get a better insight for the game, our players and our team by reading the well constructed and considered posts of many here, than from any other media outlet.

As one of the posters who has been a little concerned at the apparent inconsistencies in the treatment of some posters I would be delighted is any of the following were to become a moderator.

Quigley, Weevil, The Flying Belgian. TheBrowndog

I don't post alot here, but I check the forums quite regularly, also for quite some time before I was even a member.

Love to read everyone's opinions but in regards to mod's I nominate Quigley and weevil. Both have a great knowledge of football, always like to read their opinions, and are respectful of other posters.

Although I nominated weevil, I would also be happy with TFB as moderator.

Thanks to those people who suggested my name but I don't think that I'd be a good choice at this point in time and would prefer not to be listed as a possible mod.

There are still 1 or 2 posters who have expressed some fairly strong views on the Moderation of this Board in the recent past but have not yet expressed their view here.

It would be great to hear from everyone now so that we can ensure there are no unresolved issues moving forward.

One of those posters is beatnik, but it looks like he has a red card at the moment.

i see this thread as a very positive step in the reolsution of the endless tension on this board so i will not allow myself to risk said progress by elaborating on what my concerns are (besides, there is a long-winded summary here)

i personally would support the following choices:

thebrowndog - a real all-star; funny, hard but fair...he lives up to his moniker in my opinion and would make Browny proud in no time!

weevil - another all-rounder, enjoyable to read and seems to have a steady head when the proverbial is hitting the fan

the flying belgian - considered, reasonable, concise...an excellent choice

irel and xplo - two very funny buggers with an excellent turn of phrase and both seem to be able to brighten a sombre or nasty thread

pobt - i know has already withdrawn but i would support heartily nonethless

armagedon ready - possibly the biggest heart on BF; has humbled me on occasion with his honesty and made me realise the importance of forums like this one and the virtual communities they foster

there are a couple of grade-A posters who i nominate but who might well have been tarnished by their stance on this ongoing debate:

grimreepah - one of the most consistently exceptional posters on BF; has a very good reputation across other BF boards and, I fear, has possibly become labelled as a 'troublemaker' on the Lions board for continuing to speak out on the issue

john - if i ever had an appeals process before the courts, i would want John as an advocate...he is meticulous and persistent and goes to some effort (and personal cost) to seek fairness, equity and due process


...and finally, I would also like to endorse danielcanberra as a special grammar/spelling envoy with the power to edit those of us who refuse to take more care with out posts...i mean i could of sworn he would of been perfect for the tarks - should we arks him?

We haven't decided on the final make-up of the mods as yet, but the current mods have our full backing. We may withdraw Danni from this board though as it is apparent she is struggling to be available for enough time to do justice to this board.

You're right, the choice of the new mod (or mods) is entirely at our discretion and ultimately there is only one criteria, are they the best person for the job? Already I think this execise has highlighted a couple of potentially excellent candidates.

Mods dont have disputes. That's not to say they don't disagree with each other but a large part of their job is to soother things over and not take an inflammatory stance. Their are ways that you can make your views known and it is not that uncommon for intervention to be taken where appropriate.

As for your other questions, nominations won't close as such but we will probably make a dcision over the next few days as it is evident that this needs to be resolved quickly.

As for those involved over in the saga over the last few months, nobody has been ruled out but those who have taken a provocative stance or taken the easy option of delivering a snide remark rather than biting their tongue won't find that to their advantage if they are seeking to be a mod.
