Great to see him getting some press back home.

He's a little like the American version of Harry O'Brien it seems, with a social conscience and a little bit of a tough upbringing.

I really do hope he makes it as an AFL footballer, it would open up a whole new market for AFL clubs to target players, and also bridge the gap a little between the American and Australian cultures I believe.

Good stuff.

Thanks for the post. :thumbsu:

Love the old footage they included .... but would have been better if they showed Barry's left on Staker or Phil Carmen's headbutt. :p

Good to see the real value in picking up McNamara. He may never turn out to be a great player (he has picked up the game very quickly) but it's a PR guys dream to have the first yank playing for them.

Imagine if he actually is upgraded to the full team.

Last 10 seconds seem a bit of a stretch, i really hope he makes it. Heard he is a great guy and appears it in the interview.

Having seen him play on Saturday (flukey goal aside) I would be totally shocked if he makes it. Basically has no idea about reading the play.

It's not his fault of course, but he has a million miles to go.

Shae is a champ, I love him.

I hope to god he will make it, wouldn't that just be a fairytale story.

How is Shae going guys?

Really interested to hear how he has developed since joining the Pies.

Port picked up Daniel Bass from the States (Though originally from Melbourne) around the same time, so im interested to see the comparison to both players.

Where is he being played (position) and how has he been going?

Bassy started off slowly, and had a very mechanical style of kicking, though seems to be able to take a strong mark and is good in close and ruck. Kicked Four Goals last week (all from around 50) and ended up with 2nd Best (In Ressies mind you) though doesnt seem to be able to keep up his consistancy. Being played as a Ruckman/Forward at the moment.

I think it will be fairly difficult for him to get a game in the AFL, though not impossible.

Would love a comparison to Shae if possible :).

From what I've seen, Shae's tapwork is coming along nicely, and his foot/hand skills are constantly improving. Still needs to learn the game with respect to position placement and reading the play, but that will come soon enough. Has shown some flashes of brilliance however, including one of the GOTY contenders.
