I've been having a bit of a play with the website this weekend (anyone want to volunteer articles for next year yet?)

Anyway I've added a section that you can search our win-loss and records against different teams and at different venues. If anyone wants to take a look and give me some feedback I'd appreciate it.

There is a basic stats sheet at http://eagles.newman-knights.com/statistics/statistics.php which shows stats people often look up, and the advanced games searching stats page is at http://eagles.newman-knights.com/statistics/game.php.

G'day Q,

I was having a browse through your site and noticed those stats, pretty good work. Are you pulling them from the AFL Tables site?

Also, I think this could be a great site. Has a lot of potential, need to get a domain for it though (only $16.50 a year for a .COM), and also maybe a revamp on the design.

Most of it looks alright especially the Eagle head, although the players heads along the top looks a little amateurish and grainy. I'd definitely be up for writing at least one article a month on something to do with the Eags.

real nice...exellent search feature.

nice look also, although agree about the comments on the grainy heads, but only a small complaint on what is a really cool site.

(also prog error on editorial page)

have bookmarked it...will visit to see how ur going...

top work dude

I will write an article a month next year too - I actually wrote out heaps of drafts for games this year but never got around to finishing them up.

I agree with ozzy about the .COM (anyone remember all the ideas for domain names?). I can put up the money for the first years registration or everyone can throw a gold coin in the hat and make it a team effort.

I've actually got eaglesflyinghigh.com registered at the moment (I won a year's registration from one of Groves's comps), but I haven't done the name server setup yet.

The stats did originate from AFL tables, Paul there was kind enough to wrap up all the Eagles stats and send them to me - certainly saved hours of tedious data entry (not to mention all the research).

I'll look into the "grainy heads" issue later :)...

Should be able to - it's a fairly straightforward dynamic page - if you can see Bigfooty you should be able to see that page.

What error are you getting?

Mr Q, if you could send me that top banner pic of the heads I can try make another one the same size but a little spruked up. I'm trying to save it off the website, but it seems to be embedded somewhat into the css header thingo.

Mr Q, I thought maybe this kinda option with just two pics on each header would be more suitable, you get more detail in the pic. Possibly you could set up a rotation thing where I could make a whole heap of these images, and a simple random script selects one of the headers to show.

Here are two quick ones I made.

Here is another one I made with text.

Obviously the text drop down menu would have to be moved a little down with that text.

That idea I really like. I might give that a whirl on the weekend. I must say I haven't touched that header bar since I first got it up and running. I might try and set up an alternate front page tonight to see how it looks

I like all the examples shown above

Moving the menu bar isn't a problem, but I'd need a background area to put it on. I guess I could change it around a little and see what happens.

Yeah I could make heaps of the headers with different players in each one.

I think the second one with the text is more suitable as well. Just give me the go ahead and I'll make another 15-20 of them.

I've updated the page and I think it looks good with that title bar.

All I need to do now is get the domain name working. That's definitely a job for the weekend :)

Quey, I've got another one which you might like better, the text fits in a little more snug.

Also, one more suggestion. This is just my thoughts, but maybe increase the size of the font on the front page up a size?

Another thing Q, I was just looking through the player profile pages, and they look awesome. The pics and stuff are great, as are the stats.

I've also added a front page (something everyone has been telling me to do for months :)) at http://eagles.newman-knights.com/. I think it looks pretty good so far, but then that is only my opinion

I thought about the font sizing thing, but it could really only be done for the main text area. Changing the font size for the score box etc would stuff up the geometry of the page.
