New Years Resolutions

You thinking cold turkey?
I'm sort of doing that anyway, I started by only allowing myself one every half hour, and now it's out to one every hour, and a half. Hopefully I can get to the point where I just stop, it's bloody hard after nearly thirty years though.

New years resolutions are so stupid. If you really cared about making 'change' you'd already be doing it rather than waiting for the gregorian date to change then after 2 weeks you can't be bothered anymore and revert back to whatever you were previously doing
Agreed.

I still set yearly goals. I'm usually working on that well before making the resolution though.

Not so much a resolution, but I do set goals for each year. 2017 my goal is to save 30k

I'd be happy if I could start small, and just aim to save up enough to take my husband and daughter to Melbourne to see the Adelaide vs Carlton game on the 1st of July - none of us have ever seen footy live at the MCG before.

If people want to quit smoking then read the book by Allen carr
I stopped after 20 years and ill never touch the things again
Once you realize that having a cig is you trying to put your body back into being a non smoker you'll understand wtf I'm on about lol

No resolutions for me, never have really
If I want to stop or quit or start etc at something I do it when I want
All I remember about quitting cigs was it was a Tues at around 10.30am

I set goals and plan by months and years
So I want to have this done in the yard by Feb which means I can get that shed up by April etc etc
I have stuff mapped out for the next 5 years
I do it by starting with what the overall goal is and give myself a reasonable time to complete it in, I then work out all the steps to complete the final goal and fit them in working backwards towards the 'now'

Don't really do them. There are things I'd like to change but that is more over the long term rather than just flicking a switch at midnight. While the New Year is a good chance to take stock and re adjust realistically nothing much changes from randomly say Dec 19 to Jan 7 so setting an arbitrary date and failing in the first few days can be disheartening.

I've always wondered why people wait until January 1 to start making changes in their life. If you're saying in November that your New Years resolution is to lose weight or stop drinking, then why don't you start trying to accomplish those things right then?
Makes them feel better about being lazy
