Voted for Loynes because I love her lead-from-the-front style, but didn't realise she was already 33 until mentioned here.

Would be a bit remiss to think too short-term here and Harrington does seem like the best option.

I’ve just changed my vote from Katie Loynes to Kerryn Harrington, for three reasons.

Firstly, and most importantly, I’m hopelessly neurotic and indecisive by nature

Secondly, upon reflection I think that having our captain on a 2 year contract is preferable to having her on a 1 year contract.

And thirdly, I think that the 6 year age difference between Katie Loynes and Kerryn Harrington is relevant, as going with a 27 year old captain obviously offers a much better chance of continuity and stability in the role than opting for a 33 year old.

Hallelujah - I’m not alone in thinking that Gab Pound at least deserves a spot on the shortlist, and hopefully that moves me out of the ranks of the “certifiably insane”, and into the more flexible category of the “officially weird” Anyway, for mine, a bit like Kerryn Harrington, Gab was a real leader for us down back last season, and her consistency and ball use sets an excellent example to others. Also, looking on from the outside, it seems as though she relates really well both to her teammates and to Harf.

I have to say Dominator, I’m not so sure about Tayla Harris though. I like her, and I completely agree with you on her marking prowess and swaggering abilities (if I can classify swaggering as an ability), but she always strikes me as something of a lone wolf, who spends a lot of time in her own head, if you know what I mean. I think she’s quite good with the media, but perhaps not comfortable enough with all of her teammates to thrive in the role of captain.

Like others, I was very surprised not to see Sarah Hosking on the shortlist, because she seems to possess a big personality and a lot of leadership qualities, not least the capacity to lead by example by ferociously attacking every contest. The only possible reason I could come up with for her missing out was the fact that she’s on a 1 year contract, whereas her twin and most of the others on the shortlist are signed up for 2 years (Loynes and Downie being the exceptions).

I think it's between Harris, Vescio, Sarah Hosking and Harrington. I've gone with Harrington because I think her game has evolved the most and she's showing the most maturity overall.
