The trainwreck that is the Federal Liberal Party continues its slide down the mountain.

“She totally f---ed us,” one supporter of Taylor said of Price’s blindsiding of his camp in refusing to stand as Deputy Leader once Taylor lost out to Ley as leader.

This is what happens when you put your faith in treacherous turncoats like Jacinta Price you bell ends.
Not sure how she ****ed them. They ****ed her when Angus couldn't get the votes as leader. Why would she then stand knowing she'd be defeated.

Jane Hume doubling down too, how dare people use her own words against her. per the Graund.
Liberal senator Jane Hume has said it was “disturbing” Labor used her claims of “Chinese spies” handing out for Labor at the election as a “scare tactic”.

In the last weeks of the election Hume claimed some Chinese Australians handing out how-to-vote cards for Labor may have been “Chinese spies”.

The claim came in response to reporting that a Chinese community association, which was allegedly linked to China’s Communist party, was handing out election material for Labor and teal candidates, including Clare O’Neil.

Analysts suggested swings against the Liberals in key marginal seats may have been affected in part by the comments.

Speaking on Sky News on Wednesday, Hume acknowledged her comments wouldn’t have helped the Coalition, but she did not back down from them.

Let’s be clear what the issue there was, is, there was a suspicion by the Australian electoral integrity task force of foreign interference in our electoral system. Now that is a genuine concern, and something that I think that the government should be equally concerned about.

It wasn’t something that they could so easily dismiss, and instead, they turned it into a scare campaign against Liberals. I find that a little bit disturbing.

For the foreign minister to dismiss it out of hand. I think speaks volumes. I’ll be very interested to see what that electoral integrity assurance taskforce comes up with, because the last thing we want is that for election results to be influenced by non Australians, by by organisations, wherever they may be, state actors outside of the country.

The next scheduled state/territory election in the country is Victoria on 28 November 2026.

That's just over 18 months away.

Ley will be doing well to still be federal leader by then. I'm not saying she won't be, but it sounds like there are already those with varying degrees of influence agitating against her both inside and outside the party.

I am appalled.
Those were the heady days between Trumps election and inauguration when most of the Liberal Party were shouting look at moi to the incoming administration and before they had to pretend to disown him for doing exactly what he said he would do.

I am still amused that Trump didn't apparently even know who Peter Dutton was.

Probably a lie. Trump has been on record saying he doesn't like losers. He would say he didn't know who Albo was even if you put a photo up of them in the same room together if he lost

what we can look forward to. but the other candidate was angus. sort of rock and a hard place.

To be fair, party members vote on party lines, normally they aren’t encouraged to cross the floor. All libs will have same record except for where a conscience vote was allowed

Liberals are allowed to cross the floor outside of conscience votes. Only Labor aren't

To be fair, those who are willing to follow their conscience have ended up as Teal independents instead of joining the Libs. Ley chose to remain. So that's on her and she is accountable for how she votes.

Didn't realise that. Not many do though?
It doesn't happen often but it does. I think the old member for Bass(?) did that before the 2022 election and got looked down on by the other Libs

The last 5 were those who crossed to floor to stop religious schools discriminating against LGBT students and parents in 2022. 4 lost their seats in the next election, and one (Archer) lost hers this election.

Just shows how the “moderates” have been extinguished from the Libs but also how floor crossers will be shunned and get no support from their party.

Can we update the thread title to be "Sussan Ley - How Long?" now?

The "glass cliff" is a theory stating that women are more likely to be appointed to leadership positions during times of crisis or when companies are struggling, placing them at a higher risk of failure than their male counterparts. This means they are more likely to be placed in precarious situations where their success is uncertain.

Tough shit. She took the top (opposition) job and people have a right to find out what she stands for.
