It appears that our next game is in Canberra at Manuka Oval against the loser out of North and Carlton weekend after next.

I read somewhere (sorry can't be bothered trying to find the link...) that Pav is a definite, and Taz will most likely play, and Des is a 50/50 - he'll play the week after if he doesn't quite get up for that game.

A few questions - I know it goes back to regular rules (not NAB Cup rules) but do we also go back to teams of 22, or do they still get a couple extra on the bench?

It would be good to still be able to give 24 guys a run, just so a couple of extras get the opportunity to impress.

Do you reckon they'll go closer to the best 22 for this game, or wait till they're back in WA the week after to give the top-liners a run together.

Will Suban, Hinkley, Drum, Mayne and some of the other surprise omissions (I know Mayne rolled his ankle, but it was supposed to be just a 3 week injury) get a run do you think?

Who will miss out from yesterday's team? Will Hill and DeBoer be given an extended run (hope so)... Broughton / Pearce / VB get another go? Son-Son (can't wait to see him!)??

What are people's general thoughts about what will happen between now and the end of March?

Should be North (IMO)

I think your right with this one.

They will still have the extended bench and the subs for those games.

Depends on how alot of the kids come up after the game i would say. I see sandi, crowley, dodd, hase, rhys and alot of the mid-tier guys get another go... but also depends some may do well to rest others like to keep playing and get the cob-webs out

I would hope Pav, Taz, Suban, Hinkley, Drum, Thornton, Gilmore get a run also if fit Ballantyne and Mayne, Headland.

Again all depends on how they pull up from the game.. i would think maybe Pearce would be dropped for another kid or dropped to fit in all the more experienced players?

The last point i think we will still experiment with our structure and i don't see us or any other team moving away from the 'zone' style during the pre-season. But i think the more important one is the structures we will have and positions of certain players (hase of half back or middle, grover foward or back etc.)

But im generally keen to see how we go this pre-season and how the kids go :)

I think our forwardline struggled last night so I would like to see us give Sibo and Shepheard a few games, instead of Murphy. This is a prime oppotunity with Kiwi out, Pav playing up the field and Taz trying out different positions to play these young KPF. Grover didnt do a bad job but I think it's an area we need to really develop some players in and now is as good a time as ever. Hope Sibo gets a chance to strut his stuff because he could bring some spark back to our forwardline.

Manuka...why not, we dont travel much!!

I say blood all our youngsters and some of the experienced guys who need a run ie Haze, Murph, DJ.

Our forward line is a mess at the moment. No disrespect to the mighty Grover, he did his best. We would be better keeping him back and moving McFarlane forward.

We have NOTHING to lose by including Sibosado in the forward line. At least we can give him experience and who knows he may show a bit.

To be honest Murphy is not showing anything like what we need in the forward line. There is no way that he is going to help us kicking a winning score.

It is time to take a chance when it does not matter.

Give Sibosado a run and put the wind right up an ungrateful Murphy.
Am I the only one? He just seems to disappear when in our forward line.
At least Kiwi busts open packs and goes in hard. Murphy looks like he would be pushed over by Cyril Rioli.

Our forward line is letting our team down. Time to act before it is too late!

I think they should rest the players that looked sharpest in the Richmond game and see whether the others can't find a bit of form. Sibo, Connelly, Clarke and Shepheard should get a pre-season hit out too, just so they can see what the intensity is like at the higher level. You never really know, we might need to upgrade a project player during the year.

I would play the younger guys like Hill,Suban,Hinkley,Broughton,De Boer and co,give these young guys the experience..so they know what it will be like travelling almost every second week away from Subi.

Twas avoiding the main board because of that.

No big deal. Wasn't a good game anyway. :)

Just brings us back to the age old problem of all of the football being delayed!! I was looking at a tv program for the football this week, and if you don't have foxtel, then you cannot see a game live on tv. Hope the season real is very much different!

I recon you should be thanking Silverscope for saving you 2 or 3 hours of your life!:D

WTF has Canberra done to get a game two weekends in a row at Manuka Oval??

Sydney v Port today, then Freo v North in a "challenge" match next weekend.

Surely that's just poor management by the AFL... Sure, give them a couple of pre-season games... but two weekends in a row - and one involving Freo who traditionally don't draw much of a crowd over that side of the country - seems ludicrous. I bet they only get about 1000 people in through the gates next weekend.

They should be pleased with next week's crowd if it outnumbers the players. Canberra is one of North Melbourne's many plundered lands and Fremantle can't be expected to draw a crowd of anymore than 1 or 2. I would expect there will be numerous free tickets handed out in the next week.

The mum will be taking 3 or 4 people, so there goes that belief. ;)

It does seem a peculiar choice of venue. You could pick 10 places in WA alone that would draw a half decent crowd.

No kidding - Geraldton, Mandurah, Albany, Kalgoorlie, Bunbury, Busselton... any one of these places would get a much bigger crowd than they'd get in Canberra.

WTF can they possibly hope to achieve from sending Freo to Canberra???
