In my opinion Fergus Watts will come into the side as out nxt FF. he is playing really well in the VFL.

It remains to be seen what structure we'll employ. Assuming we have Gardiner or a newly arrived ruckman starting in the ruck we might just go with Riewoldt or Kosi as our two tall options. Perhaps Jarryd Allen might develop even further over the off-season and put his hand up as well.

If your talking about an 18 yo none have had much impact in the first couple of seasons in the Ruck

I expect we will try to trade for one, but given Carlton and Richmond took our last 2 rejects there's probably not much on offer

Man that first quarter of Kosi's in the Richmond game - a thing of beauty. If he does end up at FF I won't be complaining. Still, I like the idea of him rucking, then when Gardiner comes on off the bench, Kosi floating down to the Forward line to give Watts (or even Brooks) a break and to allow Roo to go for a bit of a run to the centre-wing. Milney and Xav picking up the pieces.

I think Kosi will play at FF
and i hope that Ross Lyon plays Watts up forward in a similar role to what Hamill use to do (god i hope he gets back nxt year, love the bloke) . Watts could take some of the leading pressure off reiwoldt, and i think that would make our forward line dynamic.

I hope Kosi plays FF next year. What Lyon did this year was start him in the ruck and move him into the forward line for only a few minutes and expect him to kick goals. Howver if he starts in the goalsquare from the first bounce, and give him some decent time, he can kick a bag every week.

Hopefully we can have Riewoldt and kosi up forward at the start of next year with Fergus as our 3rd tall to help him develop into a regular full forward.

i like the idea of playing watts as a permanant forward and kosi and reiwoltd making up the second big forward swapping ruck (kosi) and wing or up the ground for reiwoltd. Kositzke is the x factor and i see him playing both ruck and ff depending on the time and tempo of the games we play. Kosi is the best full forward at the club hands down whether he is more valuable there than in the ruck is yet to be seen.

kosi is no doubt the answer... he has to play FF and we have to hope that gardiner can come good in the ruck and then hopefully rotate with kossi for a small time each quarter if needed. (would rather kosi to be FF for a whole game mind you). if kosi needs to play ruck for some time then watts could come in and hopefully get some experience that he needs.

has anyone got stats on watts for this year in the vfl?? how many goals and such? what are his chances of becoming a 'decent' enough forward?

Slightly off topic, but Kosi's season is an interesting example of what's happened for Lyon this year. If you recall, at the beginning of the year, Lyon was talking about making Kosi play as a BACKLINE player! For a few weeks, that's what he did. I remember seeing him floundering there, trying to work a forward off the incoming ball... oh dear. Part of that was injuries, part of it was Lyon's defensive style at the beginning. As we got more backmen back in the side, and Lyon's confidence and offensiveness improved, Kosi went further and further up forward.

Seriously guys, there must be huge question marks over Gardiner. He has played very little footy in the last 4 years...and no footy for the last 2 years. How the hell do you expect him to come in and take over the mantle of our first choice ruckman?

I expect Ross will go hard for Charman or someone similar (not Watt though!) and use Gardiner more as a pinch hitter off the pine. with Frase retiring we should have a bit of room in the salary cap to go after a quality, ready-made ruckman.

I dont know if Carlton would but,
Brad Fisher is the kind of Forward we need to kick 25-40 goals a year and take some of the leading responsiblity off Reiwoldt.
That is if Lyon doesn't think Watts or Brooks can step up next year, because their is no way 2 of those 3 could play in the same side.

He is deceivingly tall but also can play small.
