Seeing as there's no profile on him I thought I'd put a little bit in here re him for those that have never heard of him.

He's obviously the "mature ager with the late pick".

Has been playing good footy for Norwood in the SANFL at CHB, but probably not tall enough to play KP at AFL level.

Attacking backman who runs and runs, although his disposal lets him down at times and I'd imagine that's something he'll work hard on.

I know him through work and he's a good quality person.

Good to know something about this bloke. I'll always have an eye out for him, as I have a mate with a very similar name.

I think there will be a few surprises this draft and some on this site are talking about 23 year old basketballers etc.

Recruiters might not go down this path (too risky and too much wasted time in development) and instead clubs will take a lesser risk by taking someone who has been in the system for a while and ready to go. I am talking about the 24 to 26 year old age bracket. These are people who have been ignored by the system for many years. There is untapped talent in this area and there are players in the system who are good enough to be in an AFL side. They might not dominate and be Judd like but they will be servicable from day 1, do their job and there is no development required. You could argue Geelong have set this course already but I think clubs will not only look at forwards but also backmen, midfielders and all other positions.

A player who meets this criteria and I believe can fit straight into an AFL club side is Nick Duigan from the SANFL. He has been ignored in previous years because he battled hamstring injuries. He has now put together two solid years down back and seems to have overcome those niggling injuries that troubled him in other years.

IMO he is a ready made AFL player. He is strong as an Ox and super fast. He ran a 10.15 in 3km. In the SANFL he looks explosive and many times in the wet this year he would run down the wing, holding the ball in one hand (Kouta like), place the ball on the ground without breaking a stride.

Anyone who watched the SANFL GF will know what I am talking about.

Getting someone like Nick Duigan will improve a side quickly and he would be an automatic selection in either our Back Pocket or Back flank. He would be the player Carlton were hoping Browne to be. I am sure the SANFL watchers would agree with me.

I always suspected that DUIGAN IS A MEMBER OF TISM had a source.

Apparently he is quite intelligent, holds some sort of tertiary degree in the field of psychology or something.
I think Andy Collins is doing the same sort of thing, believe it was him who did the hypnotherapy stuff on Tambling last year. Intelligent team we're assembling :p

Haven't seen him play (hadn't heard of him until about an hour ago) but I can't say I'm too pleased about this pick, to be honest.

I trust WH, and obviously wish Nick all the best -but I just can't see the merit of taking a 26 year old

Here's hoping he proves me wrong, but I would have much preferred us to take another kid.

Considering we elevated White and Ellard, Duigan was effectively pick 108 or something.

What do you want from that sort of pick?

Not one kid taken at pick 70 has made any sort of impact in the last decade. The mature age experiment at this end of the draft may well be a master stroke.

Looking forward to seeing what Darcy can do.

Actually, an old school mate of mine by the name of Rohan Gazzard was the hypnotherapy expert who worked with Tambling. This Gazzard chap does the rounds of the pubs and clubs as the Bizzare Gazzard

This Gazzard himself was a fair footballer and Captain/Coached the Langwarrin footy club whilst winning a few best and fairest along the way. Pretty much an all round good bloke.

Ah, apologies Dusty, I'd been fed a load of BS by the sounds of it.

Why are you strutting about like a chicken?

Wasn't sure whether he was KP size or not and to find out he is a flanker type or BP makes the selection strange IMO. I would have thought Hibberd would have been a better option considering he plays the same role and is only 20-21. Maybe we are going to try and rookie him but I do find the selection strange on face value.

Finally, Glenelg’s Nick Duigan (pronounced Dyegan) was the smoky at selection 70, and as fate would have it, the 2000th player ever selected at the draft table.

At 26, Duigan represented the more mature player the club had sought. As Hughes said: “He can come in and play defence straight away”.

“He (Duigan) had a few issues (with injury) over the journey, but he was all clear this year, was an important player for Norwood during the finals and at this selection we wanted someone who could basically play straight away,” Hughes said.

I've read this post about 5 times now, and I'm just going to come clean and say it:

I have no idea what you are trying to say.

I'd ask you to clarify but I don't want to waste my time.
