Stevens told the Footy Show that he is considering a comeback to football next year if given the all clear... IMO, he deserves another crack at a flag.. should Carlton consider it?

Hutchy said he's 29 at the end of the year.

If he is fit enough to play I wouldn't hesitate to pick him up, he is a class player.

He is too old for us, probably wont see a flag with us and we are starting to fill the places that he would take quite adequately.

Good luck to him but it sounds a bit crazy for me that he should play again.

Hutchy's wrong. He turned 30 in January.

Almost as bad as Gerard Healy stating that Hill was drafted with pick 6...twice. :o

If our form really picks up towards the end of the year and we start to look like we are getting close to top 4 or so next season I would be happy to risk taking him with a late draft pick so long as he is fit and committed. Having had a year out of the game I think we could still get a couple years out of him even if he's 31 next year.

It's pretty difficult to go places without taking risks and the Hawks showed with Dew how great the rewards for something like that can be. It's not like we don't have enough kids already. A guy with his skills could be the icing for us.

He's such an elite kick, IF he can get himself fit, reckon he'll get a run somewhere. Didn't seem to keen on returning too Carlton though. I wouldn't mind if he did return, but we already have a large queue of talent wanting to be part of our midfield rotation. Doubt he'd want to spend time in the VFL fighting for a position in the starting 22. He'd be ideally suited to teams without any midfield talent (e.g. Failurewood, Essendon) or top-up addicts (e.g. Brisbane Retreads). :)

If he was going to make a come back, it would be at the VFL level... with the supposed protection that the AFL is supposed to be giving to the head and the amount of head contact this year, it would be suicide for him to come back to the top level.

Nup, his time was up anyway.

Cheers Molly, I thought I could remember you or EP saying like he would've been delisted if he didn't retire. Didn't mention Carlton at all in his interview which was a bit disappointing, only talked about playing for a club that was a chance to win a flag.

Carlton needs elite attitudes as much as it needs elite skills. Nick was elite in skills but was sub standard in attitude at Port and at Calrton. Would be a negative step for the club to bring him back.

Would be a good fit for the WB's...especially if Aker and Brad Johnson hang them up at the end of the year. Would slot in nicely on a HFF with the odd dash through the middle.

Rocket doesn't have much time for slackers though...
