I posted this in the training thread, but not sure how many people will actually read it in there, so I decided to make a new thread

ODN, Bee or MSR, feel free to delete this thread/move it's discussion into the training thread if you like.

My brother is at training today and has informed me that Nick isn't training. He's not out there at all, not even walking laps like he was last time.

Make up your own mind, but I'd suggest he wont play on Friday, I see absolutely no reason to risk him...

Good, there's no point him playing on Friday, it's a practice match, and that's just what it is, yes I know Judd is playing, and there'll be upwards of 10k people at Princes Park to watch the match, but there's no point risking Stevens. Just let him rest and hopefully he'll be right to play in Round 1.

Yeah, I forgot all about reading that he wasn't going to play, but I still thought he might be with the side walking laps or doing some handballs or something, but hasn't appeared at all.

Another negative is that the skills are still poor, lots of mistakes being made at training

But one major positive is that Chris Judd trained flat out, chasing, tackling, harrassing other players, he will definitely play on Friday :thumbsu:

If I get any other information, I'll post it in here too, but from what I can gather the main highlight is that Judd trained flat out and trained well, and some of our skills still let us down, which is to be expected.

Not exactly sure what drills we were doing, but I'll find out when I actually speak to my brother

they're probably saving them for round 1 so as to draw a bigger crowd...y'know, like they're doing with Stevens.

Stevens claims the reason he isn't training is because of an infected knee, as a result of a a cut and burn he received playing the Hawks at the Dome.... hrrrrrm....

and Swann said he did something to his neck while lifting weights, it's beginning to sound like spin reminisce of early last season and I don't like the sounds of it :(

Apparently, he also has a strained neck from lifting weights, but didn't train on Monday or today because of the knee injury, but who knows?... Hopefully we'll see him out on the training track next week

For now lets just hope it's because of a knee infection, and neck strain not associated with last years injury.

The club is doing what's best for him and giving him a week or so to recoup, he's been one of our best during pre-season so after a year out a little time off hard training may be beneficial.

Wasn't he given the all-clear relating to that injury? I thought he had scans on his neck, suggesting that this strain has nothing to do with previous injury...

the scans on his neck did clear him of anything relating to the old injury

Injury group consisted of Benjamin and Aisake O'hAilpin, who just did some kicking to each other. Before training Fisher was dragging what looked like a 20kg weight around the boundary

Benjamin finished off with some zig-zag sprints, while Fisher ran laps

Bentick completed the full session, so he looks to be back to full fitness

Betts and Gibbs didn't take part in the "match simulation", they just hung back and watched, possibly because there wasn't enough players to match up

This is not a troll. Yesterday I learnt from a reliable source that they are almost certain that Stevens has re injured his neck. For Carlton's sake I hope he isn't and also I enjoy seeing him play. So I hope he is free to play against the tigers round 1.

If you can't name your source, don't bother.

Oh, and nice attempt at the disclaimer and sugar coating your post there.

From Brett Ratten, before today's training session

“He injured (his neck) during an intra-club game and then did some weights and he thought he got a little bit stiff,” Ratten said.

“We also thought it was the same thing ... but we got him scanned, and everything is fine and he’ll be right for round one.

“If we were playing [for points] this week, Nick could probably play, but the other side of the coin is that he’s got an infected knee from Telstra Dome where he landed, so he’s got a really big scar which has blown up a lot and that’s probably why he’s not playing.”

So i guess it's safe to assume your reliable source actually has nothing to do with Stevens then !
