One of his earliest ever games was when we belted West Coast at Subiaco back in 2013.
Kicked 3 goals.
Rising star nomination.
Before you know it, he's playing back pocket.
This bloke captained Vic Metro as an inside midfielder.
It's about time, seriously.
and where did he play the next week. My bet.... HBFWhat game was it this year? Hawthorn?
Where he pinchedhit in the middle and bullied all the kids? Getting clearances straight away?
I was watching, and spat my chips; "its about bloody time Damien!!"

Playing back pocket sums up hardwicks seven going on nine year reign,
Who remembers Astburys first game ,recruited as a forward, kicks three in his first game, then sent to the backline.
IMO. Astburys Mark prop game is suited to the forward line, not to try and speed up the backline, but I have digressed from the topic at hand, vlastuin was recruited as a midfielder come forward, showed something in his first game then vanished to the back pocket, and only after new assistants are brought in is he now considered to be a midfielder again.
Hmmmm, not sure what this says

I've heard one of the reasons he does it is because he believes playing in the backline really helps them develop an understanding of the game.. Not sure why he persists with it though.
Sydney game from memory, looked very very goodWhat game was it this year? Hawthorn?

Digressed but an outstanding point.
We have Astbury and Griffiths a***-backwards.
I forgot about young jayden Short as well first 3 games 6 goals before being banished to the backline, goals are not a KPI in this coaches book
IMO, Griffiths is too unreliable a kick for goal to play KPF. He is a better kick to position. I think, however, that he and Astbury will remain where they are.Digressed but an outstanding point.

Go ahead.
I still say if they are taking steps to "build his tank" he was not ready to play on-ball./
And I still say, for our team and in terms of getting the best out of Vlastuin, he is suited to the half back role.
We just went and got two new on-ballers and drafted another in Graham, his on-ball role will be limited.
Imo its more the lack of cohesiveness with the assistants.Another comment from a player regarding a different feeling at the Club. Clearly the new assistants having an impact but perhaps a bit more credence to the negative impact Deledio had at the Club.

Knights also retired about 15 years ago and got split open by a little greasy wog .So did Matthew Knights, although he had the ability to see everything 3 seconds before it happened. I don't think vlas has that ability. Look forward to seeing what he does though.
Goals aren't a KPI..What a load of rubbish..
Pretty sure he knows the most basic fundamental of football..team that kicks the most goals wins...

Strange one to criticise, since Short looks far better in defence and we now have a plethora of small forward options who are better than him.Goals aren't a KPI..What a load of rubbish..

wasn't a criticism at all, it was an observation, about the concepts prevailing at the club. defence defence defence and if we jag agoal along the way its all good.Strange one to criticise, since Short looks far better in defence and we now have a plethora of small forward options who are better than him.
I'd love to dispute this...
If we had more than one lids...I can't remember a game when cotchin, Martin and Deledio started in the centre square together. Problem we had with lids was only had one of him
