No ball Decisions

In light of the Justin Langer decision where he was out off a no ball which was not called, surely it is time for modern technology to take over. Why not introduce a machine like they do in the tennis for let calls and faults to call no balls. It is inexcusable to miss a no ball such as the one with the Langer incident. If umpires did not have to worry about calling a no ball, then they concentrate more on making the right decisions.

Yes, entirely agree, one of the worst missed No balls in history. Surely a cyclops should be implemented even if it is only in the umpires earpiece or something. It wouldn't be hard to do.

There is a pretty easy way to stop No Balls anyway.

Make a rule that the bowler must land behind the crease parellel to the stumps, then it would be impossible for a bowler to overstep by a long way.

According to today's paper Channel 9 say this has only happened twice in four years--not too bad a hit rate.

However, I reckon we should go with the electronic not because of these mistakes, but so as to take the pressure off the umpire looking down and then looking up every ball.

From my own experience, I tend to look a couple of times at the bowler's front foot and then if he doesn't go close not worry about it, just concentrate on the other end.

I'd rather give someone out when the bowler has just stretched over, than give them out wrongly because say I missed the ball pitching outside the line because i was looking for the no ball.

What was the other one, Fat Red? The one when Warne was bowling that bounced off Hayden's shin? That was definitely a no-ball. So I guess we're even.

I remember in England in their second test against Pakistan the last 4 English batsmen were out to No-Balls. And I think there were a couple in the Ashes as well.
