Oh I don't care then
More like 2 years if the COLA is stripped.Sydney are going to find themselves in a lot of trouble in 4+ years. The AFL better stick to what they said and not bail them out when the Franklin deal goes pear shaped.
I'm not sure what Ireland expected after their actions to get Tippett and Franklin...
Swans' CEO Andrew Ireland and chairman Andrew Pridham said in a statement that the club was disappointed with rival clubs' ongoing campaign to remove the allowance.
"The club has used the allowance for its intended purpose – to provide all players on our list compensation for the higher costs associated with living in Sydney. Our club believes that COLA is an integral part of equalisation in competition," the statement said.
Typical Ireland Bullshit!
Sydney have primarily used the COLA to land Tippett & Franklin - 2 of the top-10 paid players in the AFL ... rather than paying the rookies an extra allowance.
If they were to keep a COLA, it should be capped for salaries under $100K ... & quite frankly it should not only apply to Sydney teams. Players on $100K+ don't need a COLA!
No issue with GWS keeping theirs for a few years - until they become competitive.
Sydney salary squeeze (karma) will be on as Franklin's salary rises ... so who can we raid 1st - Rohan?
Andrew?
Exactly. Dimwit implied this is how it works. But clearly the AFL give the Syds 9.8% and they oversee the COLA.AFL rookies get something like $45,000
They should be given a cheque by the AFL each year for 10% of that as they are the ones who need to additional COLA. The clubs have nothing to do with it.
