Read today that the clubs supposedly looking at Matthew Dent for the pre season draft on teesday.

WHY???

Lekkas,Graham,Rawlings,Tallis,Obst,Nicholls,
McCabe,Chick,Vanders,Harford are all capable of playing there. What do we need Dent for.

Nothing against the bloke, but nothing much for him either. Just a player, getting on in years and cut by a team thats struggling for taller defenders. Doesnt exactly fill one with confidence.

After the Young disaster the club even said that they were going to bring down 'some young kids' for a trial and look see. Bowyer has come through like this. Id much rather give a couple of kids a go than to go through the whole Young/Sharkey/Kilmartin/Ridley etc scene again.

Just when you think they had learnt the lesson that a hack is a hack is a hack we get this.

First bad news ive had for awhile, christ i hope it isnt true.

dont think it will happen.... apparently dent hasnt even trained since the end of last season so i really dont think the hawks will pick him up...
They were talking to him in the paper and he doesnt think it will happen. He went down to glenferrie once to do a fitness test for us but so far thats the only contact we have made with him......
Actually dent is so confident that he wont be picked up in the draft that he has already signed to play for strathmore in the essendon league........ its all rumour and speculation by the press....i'd have to agree with you though that i wouldnt be too happy if we picked him up.... hes really not that great and at 28 is getting on a bit in age. would rather see us pick up an extra rookie than go for a has been.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but...

According to the AFL website we have taken Dent with our pick. I only hope the reports of him not having done a pre season aren't true. I, like others, would have preferred to see a youngster get a go. But I guess we will just have to wait and see.

That certainly put a dent in your list didn't it ? I would be happy to swap him for Olarenshaw or Calthorpe, or for that matter, both of them.

Seriously as ive said, nothing really against Dent (aside that i think he adds next to nothing to the list) more the mind set of continually drafting 6ft nothing backmen! Someone reminded me the other day of Daniltchenko too! When oh when will they learn!
