All focus should be on the two victims, the people who survived, and the people who worked tirelessly to save those people. The piece of shit who did it shouldn't be getting any air time.
How people can criticise the #illridewithyou is beyond me. People are sincerely effected by this, the fact they want to do something to try and make a difference is a positive thing (I understand that some use it to make themselves feel better, but the sentiment remains).
RIP Katrina
RIP Tori

The fact that 2 hostages died (we don't know exactly how) is a tragic and disappointing outcome.
was watching the news this morning, the cafe owner rushed for the gun which saved everyone elses lives
The mother was just caught in between running

sad stuff

Shame that no one helped the cafe owner. Tori is a hero, the courage that took is huge.

I was hoping someone would have the courage to do that, but he would have needed help. Poor, brave guy.
No doubt questions will be asked and stories will be told.

Jeez, MH17 and 370, Ebola, Phil Hughes, now this. In our own little microcosm, Griff and Macca (not to be compared to the others of course, but still, Unprecedented Events). Hope 2014 can end without further trauma.

This makes interesting reading:

The only places going more nuts than what is going on here are the middle east (as always) and Eastern Europe (cold war 2.0)

He'd be a domestic terrorist. If he was using weapons to threaten and intimidate for political ends. Fortunately we don't seem to have people that get steamed up enough to use such methods, unlike in USA, eg Wall St and Oklahoma b*mbers, anti-abortionists, KKK and so on.
Let's be honest here. He wouldn't be called that. He'd be called a crazy or a maniac. The media know what they're inferring when they use the word terrorist or act of terrorism. Classical definitions can be provided ad infinitum but at the end of the day and cutting all the bull they couldn't jump quickly enough to connect this incident to ISIS.

It's absolutely terrible that people had to die because of this piece of excrement. But I think this says far more about our justice system granting him bail than it does about a home grown terrorist.

What's the best way to see more NBA? I have foxtel but that's not much help.
They really do need to offer NBA TV on foxtel. I'd happily pay what they ask for it (within reason).

Reckon they might have been too afraid (understandably) to even think about trying that. Right from the Chuck Norris playbook.

Let's just hope though that the hysteria over what was in the end a fruit loop probably being more extreme than extremists doesn't lead to another Cronulla (Riots not drugs scandal) which I fear may happen once the dust has settled over the grieving period. There's talk in the News Limited papers that Carols in the Domain (scheduled for this Saturday Night) may be canned but to me cancelling them is an admission of defeat; a sign of weakness. This isn't the time to show extremists we aren't weak.

Seeings it is Pattison I'd say he is injured. Should give Jason Behrendorff a go when you take 71 of your first first class wickets at a strike rate of 47 and an average of 25 you are going alright.

Damn, I just realized I won't be here for the Boxing Day test

I hope Pattison gets fit, he gets talked up a lot

When you look at it in face value I just don't think Starc is consistent enough yet to play test cricket for Australia needs to do whatever Mitch Johnson did to get over his yips.

Still don't think he is in the best rung of young test bowlers we have though selectors seem a bit confused about what constitutes a good test bowler and a good one day/t20 bowler.

If Rhino ain't fit for any of the other tests coming up Behrendorff should get the call up. Got a good feeling about him.

Yeah, I thought he was okay in the one day games I see him in

and I certainly like his name

Still wouldn't call him soft though, heh

He's as soft as they come though. Every time he gets hit for a couple of fours he goes back into his shell, his pace drops and he starts bowling four balls.

Happens a lot less frequently in the shorter forms of the game because there is less overs to bowl and the batsmen are more impatient.

Shane Warne calling him soft certainly won't help his confidence, I guess that makes Starc a confidence player then

I understand why those type of players can be frustrating, but think sometimes that a little patience is required
he is still a young bowler
