Anybody have any experience with fixing software issues?

I'm having issues with MS Word on my Mac; it just keeps crashing. I'll open a file, type two words and then everything will close and an error message will pop up. It's been happening constantly since last night. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Nevermind, found that AutoUpdate wasn't working. It's going through about five updates so obviously wasn't working for a while. Surprised Word didn't die earlier.
