Nick Larkey out for the rest of the season with a PCL injury. That makes the final round game that much easier.

Same goes for the Eagles with no Harley Reid.

Absolutely zero excuses for the Crows to lose either of those games.

Does anyone know what will happen with the suns v Essendon game?? What will happen if there would be no progression with the ladder? Could the AFL call it a draw? Or what they still play it?
They still play dead rubbers every other year. No chance it gets cancelled.

Has to be the Monday night or Tuesday night at the latest surely ??
I believe the gc and essendon games will be in the Thursday in rd24. Then play each other the following thurs. I expect gc will then get a Saturday game in the finals to maximise their break
They'll be playing witches hats vs the bombers anyway it'll be like a training run

Who was the last SANFL Premiership coach to have to be an AFL head cich?

Bassett, the best. Has been at a couple of clubs as an assistant

Godden, our SANFL coach.

Anyone else?

John Cahill /Neil Balme???

It doesn't seem to translate to the AFL.
John Cahill
Mark Williams
Graham Cornes

No one since I think?

I heard it’s going to be played on Wednesday after the round.

Not sure if they’re doing Thursday double header or will be Thursday & Friday for Essendon and Gold Coast

The smart thing for the AFL to do is this:

Rd 23 - Essendon plays Fri night / Gold Coast plays saturday.

Rd 24 is a floating fixture so you put Gold Coast v Port Adelaide on the Thursday night, Essendon V Carlton on the Friday night.

Between round bye - Essendon V Gold Coast on the Wednesday night.

Anyone got the advertiser article on why Port cant afford NWM

Im going to say it. I think Port is so afraid of the Crows that they have made it a genuine mission to target every player we target. We have been genuinely linked with NWM for 2 years. Port have only gone...well you know we are an option in the last 12 months.

Its actually not a bad thing though. Because why? well it genuinely prompts players to pick us rather then their only home based option. So I am not upset at it at all if he picks Port Adelaide. In fact I am 1000% certain not only can Port barely afford him, they would literally **** up that list for the next decade and effectively waste NWMs career. But you know, as long as he gets to play with his mates...like **** me, if you are a professional footballer and thats your go to, then you deserve every bit of dumb shit that goes your way. JL is the poster child for it now. He picked the worst list to go to. Richmond, West Coast and North Melbourne have better potential than Port.

2017 is when adelaide last played finals. I am calling it now, I dont think Port Adelaide will play Finals again this decade. Stick a fork in them they are done.

Bit of a nothing article.

Main points are there are almost no players on the list that would satisfy Saints needs. Saints will fight to get fair compensation. The power have a shit draft hand that won't get it done, unless they trade Butters.

John Ralph

But if he does request a trade, prepare for the gloves to come off. Prepare for the most complicated, nastiest, most drawn-out trade discussion we have seen in some time.
Because there is not a club in the AFL St Kilda would least like to trade a star player to than Port Adelaide.
They don’t have good draft picks, they don’t have a star keen to come home in a straight swap, they don’t have much of anything St Kilda would want.
and

Power boss Chris Davies made a good fist on Sunday of suggesting the Power could find an equitable deal if ‘Nas’ arrived given the club still has 2026 and 2027 first-round picks.
But consider everything you know about the street-fighting instincts of Ross Lyon, Stephen Silvagni and Graeme Allen then realise how hard they would fight for fair compensation.

and (interesting Butters isn't on the list)

Port have the untouchables – Connor Rozee, Miles Bergman, Jason Horne-Francis and Mitch Georgiades – who aren’t leaving under any circumstances.
They have the ageing veterans who are no good to St Kilda – Travis Boak, Ryan Burton, Willie Rioli, Ollie Wines, Jeremy Finlayson, Rory Atkins, Ivan Soldo.
They have the experienced types the Saints don’t need – Aliir Aliir, Brandon Zerk-Thatcher, Jordon Sweet, Sam Powell-Pepper (coming off a second ACL), Esava Ratugolea.

Here we go
The club’s 2026 free agent Zak Butters has so far committed to seeing out his contract before he hits free agency and if he does leave Geelong and the Western Bulldogs would be much further ahead in the queue than St Kilda.

Jon Ralph and Tom Morris saying on X that Simon Goodwin has been sacked

Goody made the top 3

Alby Pannam is Ed Richards grandfather (or great grand father?)

Almost glad Nicks has turned it around if only it means we won't hire Goodwin.
Please for the love of God can we keep Goodwin away from the club?
We finally have something good going here. Melbourne on the other hand have multiple stars wanting out thanks to the culture he has created.
Someone please stop Roo from ruining our premiership chances.

I suspect his AFL industry career is over.
