Yeah. It’s a well worn footy cliche, but true more often than not.

I said it before, I think we’re like hawthorn of last year. Though likely to finish top 4, maybe top 2, which hopefully sees us progress further.

Sure, but I also think recent history shows that the teams that come home with a wet sail win flags, not teams that are 'picking their spots'.

And our form on the stretch does stand out. We've not just won, we've claimed scalps.

We’ve won a lot of games we don’t normally win. The biggest scalp is Brisbane, but we beat them in 23 too.

They kicked themselves out of both games.

They beat us at the Gabba in 2023 when we kicked 13.15 and they kicked 15.9 and we beat them on literally every metric in that game. So you can absolutely argue we kicked ourselves out of that game.

Brisbane are one of the teams in the top few that we match up extremely well against and I would back us in anywhere against them. Even in 2024 when we were struggling we had a draw with them at AO and they only beat us by 11 points at the Gabba later on.

He is in a public arena. There would have been multiple people watching on tv who saw both games and said thats the same bloke. 7 did nothing wrong and I am not sure even why its a story tbh. The AFL could have just did a passing comment of we are trialing new security approaches. The AFL by saying its a delicate personal security matter inflamed the situation and made it a public story. Death threats of coaches should be publicly brought to attention.

Either Hawthorn or Bulldogs are a finalist. We beat them convincingly.

I think these were valid reservations earlier in the season, but we also can't pretend more evidence hasn't occurred. And it's encouraging.

It is absolutely encouraging, not denying that. Just not top tier imo. That would be Geelong Brisbane or Collingwood (you could throw in freo now) away.

Obviously only 2 of those games is on our fixture.

Sure, those are notionally harder games. Im not sure one of those wins is a premiership prerequisite

Then who is in premiership form? We just beat Gold Coast by 10 goals who then beat Brisbane by 10 goals a week later....

So we’re at least a 25 goal better side than Pies.

I’ve always had this strange thought that you have to lose a GF before you know how to win one, and yeh I know teams have won it on their first attempt

There is always going to be a first time tho.

We were the first team in the AFL era to win back to back premierships.

We play before Geelong so they’ll know exactly how much to win by to overtake us on %. Shocked.

Guess that just means we need to beat Collingwood now.

3 games to go with Eagles and Roos being 2 of them and a bunch of you are whining about who plays first out of us and Cats.

Why do Essendon even need a longer break at all. They’re not playing finals. Who cares.

It’s amazing how it’s possible for an organisation to choose the wrong answer in a 50:50 that’s impossible to get wrong if you spend just 10 seconds thinking about it. I guess that’s just our Laura though, kicking goals as per usual.

I don’t necessarily believe that either, but I don’t think getting home would have any impact.

Agree it wouldn’t matter in terms of preparation for next game a fortnight away. But unless it’s a big game with national exposure, the club would always prefer to get their players home the night of the game.
