Probably all those that work in the retail industry.

AFL is a dinosaur when it comes to this stuff.
What about all those that work in hospitality on a Saturday night? You can never find a time that works for everyone.

I think they should leave it in the afternoon, it works well for the grand final day parties with bbqs before the game. If anything they could push the starting time out an hour so it finishes in prime time.

But If you push it out to a night game you make it harder for families with kids to enjoy. The game wouldn't finish until 10pm which is not ideal for any of the kids who want to watch, plus parents navigating bedtimes. Afternoon timeslot is the best time for allowing the game to be accessible for everyone.

You were right the first time, no timeslot will work for everyone.

Yep I remember that as well, he has form
Annoyed me so much I had to go and find it.

So he somewhat bullied kids during a quarter time break, let them compete for something and made them lose. Even though he'd apparently checked with the parents before hand, and had promised them they'd still get a voucher, he still thought that the public bullying of Crow fan kids would be funny (and I guess for Port fans it probably was).

So the apology wasn't an apology at all, it was "No, you don't know, it's all fine. The bullying was just for show. It's ok to humiliate them if I still give them the voucher."

Then talks shit about the keyboard warriors who called him out on it (not knowing he had apparently okayed it).

And then proceeds to go on a rant about how everyone should "be nice" to each other, all while refusing to even mention the Adelaide Crows by name, consistently calling them "the other South Australian team" or similar.

He's a petty jerk who champions "be nice" when it suits, but also seems happy to have his public persona being to make fun of others.

Like all Port supporters he's a flog that has learnt to play the victim anytime he is called out for his behaviour.
No surprise really.

Sounds like he is auditioning for THE CHASERS

Are you saying it would have exactly the same ratings?

Again, I think fans have shown their feelings about afternoon games.

Are there many other examples of sporting leagues having their peak event in the middle of the afternoon?
The problem isn't the number of people watching the game, which I doubt would change significantly regardless of whether it's an afternoon/evening/night game. The problem is that because the game is outside of prime time the ratings they get don't count towards the weekly or end-of-year ratings wins.

It's probably true that afternoon games are not as well attended as evening/night games, in general, but this is certainly not true for the GF - which is inevitably a sell out.

While not mentioning Adelaide by name is pretty trivial it’s also very weird and petty……gets a Pirate Life plug in though.
I don’t care who it is I just hate being yelled at by someone yelling into a microphone at the footy.

Not defending Nicks, but those three coaches are all living off past achievements and reputation, have not set the world on fire in recent times.

I don't rate Bevo. Biggest right time right place coach in history.

If Nicks got an umpiring run like the 16 Bulldogs I reckon he'd give a flag a shake too.

It was blatant cheating to get the Buldogs the win over GWS in the Prelim. The Grand Final was just as biased.

I feel the AFL industry is to patient with coaches. Not many other sports where you bassically get three years before there is any real pressure.

At the other end if you can make the top 8 you are almost untouchable.

Hawthorn sell Waverly to the AFL for somewhere between $1 and $20M

Actually they purchased it from the AFL for $1 in 1999 and have sold it back to them for an undisclosed figure reported to be less than $20M

Imagine having a coach that actually speaks positively about young players not currently in the team.

Talking about Charlie West / Harry DeMattia:

"I must admit, his magnet was really close this week. I didn't tell him, but now it's going to be really hard to keep him out," McRae said after the 34-point win over St Kilda.

"I'm rapt for him: a 19-year-old kid playing VFL, kicking a goal after the siren. We'll celebrate that first thing Monday morning when we get the team in. He looks like he's going to be hard to leave out next week.”

"At some stage, I'd like to get Charlie and Oscar, and these guys, opportunities," McRae told reporters at a press conference last Thursday when asked about rewarding West, Steene and DeMattia.

"I think it would be good for us and good for them. I think it would make us look a bit different and have a different type of energy. This is a long year, there are 10 games to go, you've got to get that balance right. I want to keep growing."

It will be interesting to see what Collingwood do in our R23 game (second last of the season) regarding resting players.

They will have probably top spot wrapped up and definitely top 2.
The Pies rest players during the season, so the last round won't be any different...

They do rest players during the season but pick and choose depending on the opponent. They didn’t rest too many stars against us but did the following week against North Melbourne (Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Bobby Hill) and the trip to Fremantle.

Actually going thru the games, their experienced players (Daicos brothers, Elliott, Quanyor, Cameron) have actually played every game. Most of the others have played 12-13 games.

A couple have had injury interrupted seasons - Maynard and De Goey.

Ours would need to know their names first.

Nicks talking about our young players would have all the knowledge of Glenn Jackovich commentating on a Crows game, he'd probably refer to them by their number.

The Bulldogs are more stacked than Sydney Sweeney as well, a good coach would have won more than one flag in the past 10yrs with that squad.
