Let's say in the lead up to the GF, Bulldogs decided that Gardner would be dropped. They told him which was devastating. He took a few days, felt ashamed, like a loser. His dream taken away.
The Bulldogs felt like sh*t, but they had to make a call.
They gave him time. Support.
His parents, girlfriend, family were all excited to see him in a GF. Dogs knew they would be just as hurt, and had a careful plan to manage that, while still being able to focus on the big game.
Then someone dickhead leaked to Morris, who then tweeted it and followed with the lead story minutes later.
Then Gardner starts getting calls from mum & dad. "What the hell's going on, son?" Dogs are furious. They had a plan, and Morris f’ed it up. If he'd called, they'd say "yes, but give us 24 hours to deal with internally. Then you can have it". But they didn't get an opportunity.
Post-GF, Bevo rings Morris and says what happened above is pretty sh*t. Don't do it again you little turd.
Very next game. Very next opponent. Same exact ******* thing.
Oh dear… someone has leaked a recording of our dearest Tom Morris talking about one of his female colleagues without knowing he’s being recorded..
Its just been put up in the thread on the beverage meltdown on the main board..
If it is genuine.. Tom might be in a spot of bother..

there is no doubt he was prepared to go at Morris, he just let himself down with the execution imoLet's say in the lead up to the GF, Bulldogs decided that Gardner would be dropped. They told him which was devastating. He took a few days, felt ashamed, like a loser. His dream taken away.

Excellent post, and exactly the problemSpeaking on this point specifically, the Crows camp story is exactly what happens when AFL reporters are too scared of tackling bigger issues.
This was a relatively minor incident, but because of the vacuum of bigger stories, it suddenly became one of the biggest stories of the year. That's what the AFL wants. They want small stories to fill up all the space (ideally targeted at the clubs) so that no one ever examines the AFL or critically analyses anything. It's all stuff like "a few players were upset in the off season"
Now imagine if instead of the media talking about the Crows camp for the last four years, they explored why AFL fans consistently say umpiring is the biggest issue in the AFL year after year in the AFL's own surveys. Or if they looked into clubs that people suspect of salary cap cheating, like Geelong and previously Collingwood. Where was the full investigation and breakdown of why Collingwood needed to ditch several players over alleged (or potential) cap breaches?
What about the allegations surrounding ex-CEO Andrew Demetriou and money laundering/other behaviour at Crown Resorts? And possibly a full investigation into his dealings at the AFL? What about Geelong suspiciously being fined for salary cap cheating with no explanation? What about the umpiring in the 2016 grand final? What about the extremely dodgy deal to extend the MCG grand final contract? What about an exploration of why and how an AFL tribunal acquitted Essendon of drug cheating only for them to be banned by WADA?
There are real stories there. Plenty of them. The AFL would never let those stories be told. Instead they want a minor off-season camp issue to dominate the news.
This takes me to back in the day to when they trolled Malthouse when he was at Carlton.Tom Morris needs to ask the first question at the next Bevo post match presser
Any chance Bevo might flag that one up (the Tom Morris audio) with the AFL..just to kick the little twerp (Morris) in the nuts on his way out of the AFLOmg the Tom Morris audio is insane!!! Loss of job for sure! If the AFL don't they'll have a bigger issues on hand

Its interesting from a legal perspective, I dont think they can sack for a comment said in private that was recorded without his knowledge.
I dont like Bevo but really applaud his willingness and guts to stand up to the media. Quite a number of times on and off the field I wished someone at our club would do the same
