Apparently it's legit

Thank you for that. I guess my original comment that has everyone’s knickers twisted was more about the fact that ”ordinary” Australians AREN’T often recognised with this, rather sporting ”heroes/legends” or personalities. There’s a lot of ordinary people who achieve great things and never get this recognition. Our prioritising sporting heroes and tv personalities is, to me, a reflection of the many things wrong with our world. But I concede that I was wrong about him not being worthy. Clearly, to many, he is.Just Curious do you understand Why we have State Funerals,
Because some of what you have written leads me to think you do understand the reason why.
And before you answer remember we are talking about an Australian State Funeral, Not a British one.
"In Australia, state funerals have reflected how ‘ordinary’ people can achieve greatness and allowed the nation to express their thanks and pay tribute in a very personal way"
I heard our new membership campaign on the radio this morning and that's exactly what it is.It’s bizarre. I’m guessing make sure our first games a sellout so you can’t hear the siren.
I'm pretty smartI heard our new membership campaign on the radio this morning and that's exactly what it is.

sure was.That’s just embarrassing
Was Warney ever spotted at the Henley Cafe?
Ever heard if Warney ever welched on a bet either?
One thing I've often struggled with (among many, many others) is the separation between the person and their 'art'.sure was.
conned people out for millions. But hey, he played cricket for australia.![]()
Shane Warne shuts charity to avoid potential deregistration
Shane Warne has avoided having his signature charity stripped of its registration by the state government regulator by agreeing to instead shut down the financially troubled foundation.www.smh.com.au
Great post. One thing I've often struggled with (among many, many others) is the separation between the person and their 'art'.
As an example, do you refuse to listen to or like Michael Jackson's music because of the person he was? Can you like Kanye (I don't but many do) while also realising he is an absolute tool and clinically insane?
Can you respect Warne for the skill and inspiration he provided to many, while ignoring his failings?
I suspect the more we accept that we are all going to make mistakes, the more we can separate.Great post.
I tend to struggle with it to be honest.
I suspect the more we accept that we are all going to make mistakes, the more we can separate.
It really is difficult though. I can accept Wayne Carey as one of the great players, but I will never celebrate him because of who he was and I suspect still is.
Michael Jordan was my all-time favourite athlete growing up. It was tough finding out how much of a nasty and vindictive person he is. It doesn't make him less of a GOAT though.
IMHO I think there is a difference between respecting skill and celebrating the person.
I respect Warne as a great cricketer. That's all.
