I think that looks to be a good bet for all concerned.

I think there is a level of uncertainty about either sides ability to handle expectation
Expectation? All of Victoria expect the Crows to finish bottom 2. It could happen, but it won’t. Are we a worse side than last year? I haven’t seen any monumental improvement in any team so far so I’m going with a step or two higher finish than last year for the Crows.

Carlton however…Vic media talking finals…yet again, so the expectation is for Carlton to cope with.

I genuinely believe Carlton will do well this season. They have the easiest draw and as long as they can get over the first 3 round hurdle that have held them back so long

I'm shocked they're still saying yes to play Richmond round 1 just say no and ask for North, that young team needs confidence.

A Victorian basket case club getting the easiest fixture?

I’m shocked to be sitting here.

I'm less positive about the Blues improvements. Maybe a little too positive about the Crows not going backwards.

Provides my own personal Carlton death-ride though, which always makes the AFL year seem more real :)

They don't. They don't even appear on the ratings list.

Given Radio National is on there at 1.4%, I would suspect SEN SA would be less than that

Mind you, Triple M aren't faring much better here - crashing 1.5 points to just 8.4 (even SAFM outrated them).
Funny how Ali Clarke turned from sophisticated to bimbo overnight. 😁

Take away the two unexpected wins against dees and cats last year where both those teams probably came into the games expecting to easily win and underestimated the opposition and where would we have finished on the ladder?..

Interested in the board's thoughts on my 2022 bet with a Carlton co-worker ...
  • If Carlton finish more than 2 ladder positions above Adelaide - I lose $50
  • If Carlton finish 2 ladder positions above Adelaide - draw, no-one pays
  • If Carlton less than 2 ladder positions above Adelaide - I win $50
Looks right on a fair /good bet to me.

Carlton finished 2 spots above us last year, are young and developing and have got a good recruit in Cerra. We are young and developing and have got a good recruit in Dawson. We've lost a good player from last year in Lynch and have lost Tex and Laird and Seed early. They've only lost Walsh so far I think. We've got Crouch and Milera to come in tho, which makes it all pretty even. I'd like to think our recruiters are a bit of a wildcard in our favour, given their long track record of doing very well, that said, the enormous amount of very high picks carlton have had, still gives their group a good lot of talent.

So as I said, sounds about right.

Where would we have finished on the ladder if we’d won the five games we lost by less than 2 goals three of those by less than a goal? 🤷‍♂️

Ben King just played GC like a fiddle, two years so enough time to recover from his ACL and then would almost be free agency time wouldn't it?

And thats the entire point.. we are fragile.. we could scrape together 7-10 wins or barely get to 4!..

And a few of our possible wins will probably rest upon whether or not our opponents bother to turn up…

With the youngest, or close to, and most inexperienced team in the AFL last year, my point is, we could have jagged another 5 games and ended up with 12 wins in 7th position. We have some decent players returning and a couple of good additions. My expectation is we’ll be a better team this year and hopefully get over the line in a few more close ones.

AFL reporters will be furious they can't speculate about Ben King's contract all year

Thought some Saints supporters thought he was going to be a monty to join his brother.

Glad he stayed at the Suns as they need to hang on to their best talent.

Meaningless argument. You could literally do the same thing with any team in the league. There are many unexpected losses and unexpected wins every season
