If umpires want to be respected and want to pay frees against for abuse, they need to clamp down on players abusing the rules.

Staging should be a 1 week suspension minimum. You dive, you flop, you are done.

Suspensions for ducking, diving, dropping the knees or shrugging tackles. Any contact that deliberately draws a high free, you're done.

Suspensions have nothing to do with umpires and they also don’t make these crap rules, this is an AFL issue.

The umpires get abused because they make absolutely horrendous decisions multiple times a game

It's not even abuse at this point, it's umpires literally turning it into "You questioned my decision and that's disrespectful, so you're getting penalized for it".

Stamping out umpire abuse is fine, but they've made the rule that you literally cannot even question a decision.

It's all linked. Players try to con the umpires, the umpires pay frees that aren't there, they get abused and pay more frees.

Dropping the ball in a tackle should always be HTB and dropping it just before being tackled play on. Not holding the man.

The rules should allow for "completing the tackle". If you tackle a player who has possession of the ball when you tackle him, then you are allowed to complete the tackle i.e. bring him to ground, effectively removing him from play.
